IDK, ratling seem good, u put them in a closed top bunker, u got a 2+ cover save, sounds good, and they never flee. Rough riders also seem like a really good idea, the 1 winged hive tyrant, run in with 10, (now, correct me if im wrong, cant find my codex, u get the hunting lances bonus for the first round of CC, so, 2 atacks each, with I5 and S6, or 5?) and good V.S, termmies. then the ogryns..................This is the 1 im not sure about..........sure streanth 6 is good, and 3 wounds, but, are they worth it? so...if u guys or gals could tell me if these thing's are worth taking.

    tnks in advance.

    Ratlings, yes, go for it.

Roughriders, yes, go for it. but get hunting lances

Ogryns, (N) , with an armour save of 5+, and a T4, they aren't worth the points. If they had something else going for them like T5 or being able to take doctrines........

But my favourite elite choice is a veteren squad.

Rough riders with hunting lances are pure ownage on the turn they charge even against enemy HQ's. I usually have them sit behind some good cover and just wait for the perfect time to strike. In tournaments they reck opponents but those that know me have learned to go out of there way to hit them first no matter what it takes before assaulting my IG lines.

I gotta go with Triump of Man on the Veterans for Elites. I have three Grenadier Squads as troops, and three squads of Vets for Elites most of the time, a BS 4 Guard Army!

are ogryns really that bad? i've never used them or seen them used, but I was thinking of including a few in my next army for the fluff. (it's an artillary company with lot's of sentinel powerlifters and special weapons teams composed of mechanics and dock workers using improvised weapons)

but are they really not worth taking at all?

has anyone put them to good use?

any tips on how to equip a bone 'ead?

Imagine your ogryn squad under a battlecannon template: instant kill , bye bye 200+ points of stuff . For the bonehead, crimson ribbon is a must.

they cost to much, especially when you consider that you lose 200 points of shooting, making it less effective.

Ratlings are worth a try. But beware: I played a tournament yesterday, and one of the battles was on a terrain with a few necron crystals in the middle as the only cover, essentially useless. I was up agaisnt a CSM made out of 2+SV bikers... Can you imagine the usefullnes of rough riders and ratlings? I was massacred.

Oh yeah, vets are worth it, stormtroopers too. RR are scary and Ratlings great fun!

hmm what if I play with one or two minimally equipped squads, small enough to not be too much of a point sink, but still usefull in assult? could they work well for tying up enemy units? is the bone 'ead neccessary?

    thanks for the input

I seem to have written myself into a fluff corner, I don't have to take Ogryn, but RR, ratlings, and stormtroopers wouldn't make sense at all
