I currently serve the greater good and I would like to assemble a second army that is the antithesis of the Tau, i.e. nasty up-close-and-personal.
I am trying to pick between the Blood Angels and the Black Templar.
Please give me some reasons for picking one over the other.
Well I have played Black Templar for quite a while. I love my army. Blood Angels are good as well and so it made it a HARD choice. Me personally, im glad I got Black Templar. There a great army. They have a great story line (as do the blood angels)
Me I would Say Black Templar, But its different for everyone
Thanks Blood God
What advantages/disadvantages does a BT army have (in the assault realm) over the Blood Angels.
Yes I am leaning toward the BT but the Death Company looks very enticing......
Alright Alright (cracking knucles)
Black Templar never retreat, if they fail moral they charge 2d6 towards closest enemy and get a sweeping advance benifit
They also get Vows, Boy you wanna get in close and nasty you take the
Suffer Not The Unclean To Live - basically gives BT +1 to there to wound dice (if you need a 4 then a 3 would hit) But they get -1 to initiative
Accept any Challenge, No Matter The Odds
Always must assault units in range, Close cobat always hit on a 3+ doesnt work on vehicles though.
They can also have more then 1 Land Raider Crusader. A really bad ass tank.
All other chapters can only have 1
where did u get the rules for black templars? codex armaggeddon?
and black templar look cooler than BA
When it comes to close combat, I would say the Templar are the best. Blood Angels are a close second though in all the marine Chapters.
(plus they look more bad ass anywayz LOL)
All BA get +1 S and +1 I in first charge, and Death Company get basicly a 4+ Inv. and cost no points (though it is included in the price of Chaplain) and can take jump pack troops as HQ Elites and Fast Attack. This last feature would seem to get them into combat faster (a nice thing to be able to do if you are assault heavy) How can you compensate for this (lower mobility) in the BT?
Are jump pack troops any good?
Who would spend 500 or 750 points on getting 2 or 3 Land Raider Crusaders? Only way I could understand that is if you're in a 3000 point game or something.
EDIT: Did I say 500 or 750? I mean 510 or 765.

BT is a better army Blood Angels ***** me off with there rage. So you cant have a lascannon on any marine and must trust a tank to do all the las shooting which I dont like since there BS 3.

templars are probably a better close combat force but they dont have the verstility of the BA- not much in the way of effective heavy support (no devestators)
naturally, i play templars so my opinion is biased, but from what i have seen, templars are the better close combat chapter when used properly
