this guy is a GOD!
i am talking about the avatar and i am a eldar player so i know his strangths and weaknesses...but i cant seem to beat him that easyly.
here is waht happens my death company kills the swaths as usal in close combat wile my dreadnought usess his guns and fist to kill the tougher units such as banshees and scorpians and bikes and so on, my dev squad takes out armor, and my bikes do the good old if they have a flank, its not there any more! but then my tactical squads do the rest, now a normal maarine is a really good standard unit but when bloody handed god comes up to them with his high WS and Streangth but when this guy gets into close combat with my squads he usally has about 1 wound left and chews them....i end up loosing all the time...i cant kill him. i mean every one will say shoot him but he uses cover and vehicles to cover his avatar till he gets close enough.
can u help me?
P.S. Blood angels rule, the anger lets us ignore wounds ...hehehe
he moves 6" and assaults 6"..don't fall into his trap. Make him come to you and pick your targets. He is pretty nasty with the I save and all but I find either an assault squad or a couple tac squads rapid firing into him. Wounding on 6's true, but his bad armor save more then makes up for that.

lascannons...take out his tanks, then shoot the avatar. Never let him assault you. If it comes down to it, just charge him, and you'll be surprised. Just try to make sure he doesnt reach you. Blow him to pieces
Never judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes...by that time they'll be a mile away, and have no shoes
The secret to killing the Avatar is the obvious, its weakness is massed bolter fire. Beneath all it's states, its got a boring plain old +5 save. Rapid fire a marine squad at it, and it probably will 2/3 wounds.
The problem with it is that unlike Greater Daemon's in lacks an armour save. Avatars are also allergic to Psycannon.
Two words: Scout snipers. Hits on a 2, wounds on a 4. ALWAYS. Then that crappy armor save really hurts him.
Even rolling crappy:
5 snipers= 4 hits, average 2 wounds per turn.
Works for me
Marion: You're not the man I knew ten years ago.
Indiana: It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage.
For the last time, there are
NO FEMALE SPACE MARINES!!!!!
I take it one step further add a heavy bolter. That will usually add another wound. Or hit him with a tact squad with 6 Bolters and a plasma gun. Rapid fired the Plasma should be good for about a wound a turn.Originally posted by RJSuperfreaky@Jan 26 2005, 12:37

Also what is his Initiative, or does he always strike first.? Couldnt a normal Dread or Furioso rip him limb from limb
If you build a man a fire he will be warm for a night. If you set a man on fire he will be warm the rest of his life.
I'm afraid his I is too high for that.
Sniper fire works wonders, but then again so does a tactical squad just opening up with Bolter fire.. BTW don't let your opponent tell you he can hide behind tanks. Eldar tanks are skimmers, and skimmers don't block LOS. .
Avatars cannot be hurt by psycannons, read the rules on the avatar, he ALWAYS gets his save, and if it comes down to it smack him with a force weapon.

Erm if your talking about that blurb about the avatar, and how he was invulnerable and always gets his save, this basicallly boilts down to a +5 invulnerable save. Psycannons ignore vulnerable saves.....he doesn't get a save Black Templar.
My squad of 4 snipers/one sergeant completely rip apart Avatars, even though the sergeant usually doesn't do anything other than stand there, looking cool. The only thing I don't like about the snipers is that even against weak opponents they wound on a four. So I just shoot at strong opponents.
