Wow! As a SM player picking up the DH codex for the 1st time I was mightily impressed by the GK Grand Master (Y) - Str6 Force Weapon, 3 Wound and 4 base attacks coupled with 2+/5+Inv makes him VERY VERY VERY attaractive for my BA army (CC loony I am )
Now to the problem on hand:What can beat the Grand Master in CC? He seems to be within the top 6 or so models in the *entire* WH40K universe...statistically speaking, of course. Now, guys, can u give me some cool stories about Grand Masters getting killed or killing other big HQs?
Thx all. Cheers!
Well, even the HK being the the best at vanquishing demons a Bloodshirster managed to deal the 'hurt' on my Grand Master. It was a sad time for my Daemonhunters army although two squads of GK dealt some vicious revenge before the battlee was done.
In the end there is only war.
I was playing my friend as Tyranids one day, and it came down to a one on one HQ battle. I had lictor-ized his Land Raider so my only main objective now was to take donw his HQ and possibly his retinue. Because of those rediculous Nemesis Force Weapons, my Hive Tyrant fell, wiht only taking one wound. My good justification being I managed to score three wounds on him, just enough to irradicate the scumbag, grrrrrrrr. :realmad: Anyway, that seems like a decent story. eh?
You could of course just use the GM as an IC without taking his retinue. That'd be a nasty suprise in an honor squad along with a chaplain or librarian and your Chapter Master. Heheh that would be nasty.
Karnov let all of us fulfil our repressed dreams of being a fat Russian man running around in the great outdoors and getting shot at by weird stone heads and crap. You didn't have a repressed fantasy about doing such marvelous things? Well, I don't believe you . . . [djpretzel]
As always though, if fighting something with daemons, they get sustained assault if you have ANY GK's in your force. To a pure DH player with lots of GK's and anti daemon-pack gear (incinerators are fun =) and mystics, daemonpacks can be dealt with, but if you only include one GK model, that rule can be the nail in your coffin I'd say.

true the GKGM has a small chance. but he still needs 6s to wound, and if he doesn't... he's dead.
Right I was saying top 6...Originally posted by BoxANT@Feb 7 2005, 10:36

that's about it. Then should be the GK Grand Master...and if u stuff him a retinue, then he can kill even the Wraithlord...tho it's costly-Str10 p.fists are no laughing matter.
i wouldnt say that he is as high on the list as youve put him. there are ,for example a few others, like a souped daemon prince (a slanesshi dp can strike at I7, and kill anything, but a retinue solves this problem because he can only kill one or the other) a space wolf lord will own a gm (and most other things) and new librarians aint so shabby. he sgood, but not godlike.
if dreds are so high on the list why can a tyrant destroy them with such ease unfortunately just like hotspike one fought my ht and both died
I think a great bumper sticker would be as follows:
Proud parent of a child whose self-confidence is good enough that he doesn't need me advertising his minor scholastic achievements on my carclick me
i wouldnt put a dread up there, WAY to easy to pop.
