I noticed that the cost of a veteran stormy is the same as an inquisitor (10 base +10 for upgrade). I also noticed that the inquisitor is equal to or better than the veteran in all regards-weapon skill, wounds, initiative, selection of war gear, access to psyker powers. So that made me wonder, what's the advantage of taking a storm trooper veteran instead of an inquisitor?
I could only think of two reasons...
1. Invisible thunder hammer
2. does not need to attach to the storm trooper squad
Those two reasons don't seem to be that great for taking a veteran instead of an inquisitor, so can anyone provide better reasons?
With the new random scenario system, you get a lot of Escalation games. And Elite Inquisitors deploy seperate from the IST unit you want them to be a part of. I play a mechanized DH/IG list, and got myself in some trouble once because of this exact reason - my Inquisitors with TP Homers had to deploy at the start, and their rides didn't make their reserve rolls until they'd been shot down already!
that, and if you already use your elite slots for fun stuff like assassins or daemonhosts etc.
