Am in a campaign for cityfight and I need to know what is the best heavy weapon for my infantry platoon squads. I think it would be a heavy bolter or a motar but I dont know. Does anyone have any preferences or experiences?
The Predator Lingers forth. Suddenly the sound of several wipping sounds can be heard far off into the distance, a second later the once mighty Predator ignited with flames. "Sir what was that" The srgt replied "Its those damn Broadsides"
Hear the wip, fear the Broadside.
it's hard to go wrong with a missile launcher on the basic squads, you got everything covered with it.
You should have a dedicated spot in your list for mortars with you want them, but they need to be balanced out with another heavy weapon. Like a lascannon, or something along similar lines. What're you gonna be facing in the campaign, do you know?
Yeah, this is excellent! TY Angel of Rust!
Graktoof the vile, victor of 1000 battles, partial credit to 1000 more, and sore loser about the other 8000...
when my gaming group went thru our "city fight" phase (in the last days of 3ed). i came to the realization that HeavyBolter/Flamer is a great combination for line squads.
simple due to the large amount of cover.
missle launchers are great because they can insta kill MEQ on the cheap. however, when the aforementioned MEQ gets a 4+ inv... it makes the deal a lil worse
however, HB get 3 shots, and when facing SM in 4+ cover, is better than a ML/LC at taking them out!
combine that w/ the fact that flamer ignore cover, and you have a 76pt squad that works well in cityfight.
you'll of course need anti tank firepower. but for you line squad, i feel that HB/flamer is great.
add in cameleoline for more fun
Mortar, flamer, and HB.
Mortar- attack people you can't see
Flamer- ignore the cover save
HB- Have a zone of fire up a street making it hard to cross
Three Companies of the 26th Vinancium
143rd Airborne Badgers (99.9% done)
159th Corsair Rifles (35% done))
69th Armored Wall Busters (95% done)
Total 197 men, 12 tanks, 4 Heavy Artillery Pieces
A squad of Lascannons on top of a tall building will provide decent anti-tank (except against land raiders, Monoliths) Mortars never ever seem to acieve very much. Take them for fun and as something to do on the turns when you have no LOS.
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!
what do you mean with except? the lascannon is the strongest weapon the IG has to offer (apart from the demolisher). if you think meltas then maybe I can agree with you but the monlolith has the special rule living metal which makes meltaguns bonus thingy useless.Originally posted by Wings of Doom@Feb 8 2005, 14:57
