He's now a Company Champion, page 29. But if you're going to convert him, then the model could fit in for almost anything, vet sergeant, honor guard, commander, etc.

Wait one second... the Emperor's champion was a special character in the old codex, and in the new codex he's not there, so wouldn't only black templars be able to take him?

Sorry if WolfRaider already answered this, im just a bit unsure, and oh yeah, Mega Man is so kick @$$. Good luck with ur Ultramrines army.

White Dwarf Clarified that any SM chapter may take an E.C, as all chapters have them, but only if the opponent agrees to let you use it.

The Emperor's Champion was clarified as being available to all chapters under third edition rules. He is no longer available to all chapters since the third edition FAQs technically don't apply to fourth edition. The Company Champion takes his place for all new SM codex armies. The EC is still available as printed in the BT codex for BT alone.

There is an argument that rules clarified under third edition FAQs, and are the same rules in fourth edition, are still valid, even if not printed in the fourth edition FAQs. This point of view supports the clarification published under third edition that the EC can be used be all chapters as still being valid. That would mean that any and all chapters can use the EC.

Personally I don't support this view. The old chapters published under third edition, such as White Scars, are no longer valid. Why would one be able to pick out the EC, published under similar status, as still being valid while chapters like Salamanders (another example) are not? White Scars and Salamanders are now detailed in the SM codex, and those versions are the legal ones.

The new CodexM redefined all the chapters without stand alone codices so their old published rules are not valid. The 'EC available to all chapters' was one of those old rules and is no longer valid either. He is replaced by the Company Champion except for BT in whose codex he appears.

As wolf raider pointed out, as of the 4th ed rules ONLY Black Templars may take him as a special character. If you like the model however, he may be used as the "company champion" that is part of the command squad.

I have yet top speak to any judge at a different Venue then the one I judge for but we all feel the same way about this one. Emporers Champ is BT only now as every company has its own champion.

Now as the model really is wicked there is nothing stopping you from using the model as any of your hq's, vet sarg's or company champions.

In addition to the company champion (which all chapters can have) there is also a character called the Chapter Champion that is exclusive to the Ultramarines. He is a part of the honor guard along with the Chapter Ancient and the regular Honor Guard troops.
