Alright,basicly i just wanted to start a tactical thread on what you think is more effective and on whom. Plenty of arguments can be made for either side,and i'll start us off.
I personally love my power fists. For only 5 points than a powersword you can now demolish tyranid MC's,dreadnaughts,wraithlords and vehicles. Plus you will be wounding on twos most of the time. Striking last isnt so bad of a thing either. Many opponents will strike before I4 anyways,and those that dont generally have T4,which a power weapon will struggle to wound. And then,of course,theres nothing like killing an enemy character w/ auto splat
really depends who or what you fight against the most. i mostly fight marines with orks, so powerfists are a nice option for me. The character splat, and the ablity to kill their supposedly invincible stuff is a great upshot when you usually are str 3.

Meh, this is kinda useless. Power Weapons/Fists depend on what I'm going to do with that unit/HQ choice, and what I'm playing. I'm not going to give my Lord a Powerfist, for example, if he's going to be fighting Eldar infantry/Farseers. I'd give him a power weapon or a Frost Axe, probably the latter as wounding on twos is fun. Now, on the other hand, I'm going to give my BC's the full PF upgrade as they are going to go wraithlord hunting. Anyway, like I said, this is kinda pointless. Power Weapons and Power Fists shouls be used in different tactical situations/battle plans.

Powerfist for Vgt Sgt (hidden Pfists rock)
Powerweapon (or Lclaws) for IC (make that I5 work for you)
I love my power fists, they help to much against vehicles, and it makes people think twice about that combat.

Powerfist (more like Powerclaw) for me. My nobz with powerclaws have done the most damage then anyother models in my army. Like boxant said when they are hidden in a squad they are worth 5 times what you pay for them.

For assaults against dedicated-CC units p.fists are very nice because:
1)They usually have Init better than 4 (Genestealers, DE, Wraiths etc)so even with a p.swrd they strike first
2)Str8 usually kills them on a 2, and if ur boy lasts long enough to use that fist, he can cause some REALLY SERIOUS damage, perhaps even getting the pts back for all those comrades he lost.
I like power weps mainly because fists attk last.

I like the power fist for the Tac squad vet sarg, besides nothing says I got to use the PF so I can decide what init to go at based on what I face. That tidbit tends to f up folks when I run my termies. As far as IC's go its PW every time.

Powerfists in squads rock, i like them because they are about the only good cc weapon and they are good against Death Guard. A nob with claw in a sluggas mob will happily squish 2 marines a turn, and basicaly have 20 wounds. Fists all the way, put wounds on that hive tyrant that would otherwise just munch the squad.
