The title says it all; I just want to know whether the Grey Knights are technically Space Marines or Inquisitors.
grey knights are space marines rumored "to come from the emperors own flesh"
inquisitors are humans who are members of an organization called the inquisition (3 orders) if they were a marine they wouldn't have such a low T and S. They ordo malleus will often call upon the grey knights to work with them in the fact that their works are so closely related. However they grey knights themselves are technically an autonomous organization
Grey Knights are a secret chapter of Space Marines with no ties to the normal Adeptus Astartes and a close relationship with the Ordo Malleus of the Inquisition. They aren't Inquisitors, like Adumar said, but they don't work like a traditional space marine chapter either.
Grey Knights are meant to be "special" Space Marines which are roumered to be seeded directly from the Emperor. This makes them Space Marines genetically. However every GK is psychicly active on a very low level which increases as they gain rank.
However they are not part of a normal Space Marine Chapter. For one thing they do not "officially" exist. They work for the Emperor and Inquisition as one of the three branches of the Inquisition.
So while they are SM's genetically I would say they are actually part of the Ordo Malleus and not part of the Adeptus Astartes.
Just remember that they are not Inquisitors who, as mEGLO pointed out, are normal human beings.
You could think of them as a perminantly re-assigned Space Marine "Chapter" that is now part of the Ordo Malleus.
Aye. In all technicality, their affiliation is with the Ordo Malleus. They don't consort on the same level as other SMurf chapters.
