Got a few quick questions. I've been playing armored company for a few months. Vanquishers, Russ's, Exterminators, and conquerors.
The tanks hold up fairly well but just can't stand up to close in heavy hitters. By now all the locals know what I run so I'm rarely getting a winning game now.
Anyway. I was thinking I need to add in some infantry to support the tanks.....I've played a few friendly games using a few squads as infiltraters but were not 100% sure if this is legal...I doubt that it is just by looking at the list.
So what are my options? The list says I can have stormies and armored fist. Is there any other way to use Infantry? I'm not to happy with chimeras...well its more a price issue, I've already sunk enough money into my tanks to build a real one
Also, what about flyers? Transports and vulture gunships? Can these be used?
Vultures and Valkries are awesome models but they are quite pricy, and they require you to buy the imperial armour volume 1 as well. You can include storm troopers in your army, and i know a guy who runs two storm trooper units to protect his tanks at close quarters. The other thing to do is use a demolishers secondary weapons and maybe one or two of your other tanks secondary weaponry, which should consist of horde killing weapons like plasma guns, heavy bolters etc.
need to be clear of what you mean by close in heavy hitters? are we tlking hoards of marines with melta guns or assult units with power fists?
either way IG infantry rely on large numbers to provide ability by themselves, they just cant stand up to other infantry in even numbers, this is an inherant problem in an armoured company.
Deep striking storm troopers can help, but not in the way you are thinking, their late arrival means they are probably too late to be a speed bump, but they can deep strike to take out his support fire, allowing your tanks to concentrate on the advancing infantry.
AF squads are a no if you dont watn chimeras
Vultures are just rude, but they are expensive and dont really provide you with any protection,
Valkyries are the equivalent flying chimeras at 3 times the cost with a little more fire power so not really much use to you
Everything you have been told is a lie!
If you want a legal army, then its Storm troopers of Amoured fist squads in chimeras only, im afraid.
However there maybe a way:
you could get a Sentinel squad armed with Lascannons, that could scout ahead of the force, and if needed be used as a 'speedbump'.
Another alternative, is to sacrifice one tank, to slow down your opponent, and then blast apart.
thats the trouble with Armoured companys, they can deal out a lot of damage, but are very vunerable.
