I was just flipping through the codex last night and realized that it is possible to have a Commander with a powerfist, a Veteran sergeant with a powerfist, AND a veteran marine with a powerfist. This command sqaud would be pretty expensive, no doubt, but wouldn't it be worth it to have 3x powerfists in a veteran command squad. They would be able to shoot the shitiaki mushrooms out of any opponent as it is but when in close combat they would do twice as much damage. Especially with the Commander having a power fist. Just a thought. what do you all think, is it worth the points or no?
Yes it is worth their points but u are wasting the great I value of Commander. Personally I always give my HQs some weapon which utilizes their abive-average Init. This is because the units in b-2-b with ur HQ can attack first and if it happens to be something with str8 then ur toast. Nah - always knock em down before they blow ur tin can apart. So I'd suggest changing him to 2xLCs - really nice if u play BA (I assume u do from the user posted pic)
If u really like fists and stick with them then I suggest giving him a TH for 5 more pts. Nothing really beats cracking a Wraithlord because ur TH's "stun" effect made him attack at I1...
Never put too many points into a squad. I would know. Once I had a 10 man Assault Squad with a Chaplian and a Commander. My friend had a vindicator. Direct hit and they a died.
Purge the daemon where ever it may be!
That would have been hillarious to see, but in all seriousness : That's the exact reason that 3 powerfists in the squad won't work well.
Good examples of things that hurt those :
A huge mob of slugga boys
Anything that lobs STR 8+ pie plates (Lemans, defilers..etc)
etc etc etc
Basically all they are is a STR10 I 1 attack that will level what they hit...but their flaws :
They strike last
They have to be in CC
They are vulnerable to Templates
They are VERY vulnerable to ap3 fire..
etc etc etc.
