After having having suffered a crushing defeat this last Wednesday at the hands of my math teacher I'm going to try again on Saturday together with another guy who also just started an army... or rather he got it for free from his brother-in-law.(Not a bit jealous... nope. Not at all. :/)
Our two 1000p IG armies versus his 2000p Space Marines. No scenario decided, no idea what the enemy force will consist of. I do know that he's got over 4000 points total of purly SM units, so you can assume he's got pretty much everything to throw at us. He'll probably won't hold anything back either. Atleast he didn't do that this last wednesday...
My allie don't know much about the game, its his first game, i'm going to help him put together a list tomorrow when i can see what he accually has. (I quote: uhm... about 100 guys with 2 leman and some other tank and an calidus something assassin)
I'm thinking of ditching the assassin because i don't know anything about Wh(Dh?) and put together his army using what IG models he has.
Anyway, i'd like suggestions on what to think of when and before playing. Target priority, formations, general anti-Sm tactics and such.
Sorry for being so vauge, but i do not want to put together an armylist before i know what my ally has so we can fill out eachothers weaknesses.
I don't think we have much chance, two newbies with a total of one game played but if i have to go down i intend to do so bringing as many of his models with him.
battle cannon, and earth shaker cannon goodness. Get one person to spend 1000 points on tanks, and one person spend 1000 points on like just infatry. Bring as much ordanace as possible. Also, bring a few autocannons, and lots, lots and more plasma guns. Good for killing marines. I also suggest 2 anti-tank sqauds, mabye 5-6 lascannons. YOu dont want to get pitted against a landraider, and only glance it on 6's with a missle. Watch out for drop pods, and landspeeders as they can be deadly against tanks. Thats why i think you should bring a few autocannons. Great range and perfect for destroying land speeders.
Good luck, and dont worry, marines arnt totally impossible to beat
and man, i wish my math teacher played warhammer
oh and last point. Watch out for librarians, they are beasts
and also assault squads.
Nothing a Battle Cannon Couldnt fix
demolisher cannon= spacemarine death
just stand back and shoot him to hell. dont rely on ur infantry too much, because they can be out shot and can be beaten in assault by marines. leman russes are your friend (all variants) as long as they have pie plates and high(low?) ap.
A basilisk couldn't hurt either....
this is my first real tactics post, so i hope it helped.
LONG LIVE THE EMPEROR!!!
