I was looking through the FW site and I was thinking of getting either the lightning or thunder airplanes for my marine army. Here's the link: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/QUATE...AL_NAVY_45.html
The site says that they are part of the imperial navy. Space marines are part of the imperium of man right? The rules for them are in the first imperial armour book which is for imperial guard. Does this mean that they are only available to imperial guard or both marines and gaurd?

crazyguy832, the problem with the thunderhawk is it's price. That's why I asked about other aircraft.

Since most of the games I play are with my friends do you think that they'll care about me using them? Is it too unfair?

No, SM can use Lightnings and Thunderbolts too, as well as getting a lance strike (Daemon Hunters Rules)
But you need a Command Rhino in order to use them.
As well as Imp Armour Vol:2
And Imp Armour Vol:1 for the flyers.

So...you would kinda need to inform your opponent of its use. Or ask if they are the type of player who cries at the mention of using something from FW.

Edit:
Red Talon: Depends...see no only are Thunderhawks costly too buy...the points values are like...ouch.
But if it were me, I most likely wouldn't mind you playing it...because they blow up fantasticly =^___^=

Not only that, but if you're friends won't let you play with cardboard models, they're not real friends.

Man all these forgeworld models are soooo cooooool! <drool>

I can't wait until I get a job in another... 7 years or so. Then I can choose to get them, and maybe cut back on... energy spending, I dunno.

I've decided to get the thunderbolt. It's just so cool. I'm just wondering what weapons it has. I don't want the stats for them, I just want to know what's on it. By looking at the picture I can tell that there are two lascannons, but I can't tell what the other stuff are. Any ideas?

the thunderhawk really is the daddy of all flyers in 40k...sadly it costs more than most women do. Arg

couldn't say what the thunderbolt has, but if your going for one, and its works, two could be amusing...ive always wanted a flyer heavy army with very few ground troops (to do a scenario where a small group of defenders finally gets air support or something) heh
