In Codexpace Marines it says- 'Librarians have the Storm of the Emporers wrath psychic power. They may replace this power with an alternative power at the specified cost. In addition, a n Epistolary can take a second phschic power at the listed cost'
Do Epistolary pay the higher cost for both Phschic powers, or just the extra one?

A good question... I was wondering about this myself today. The way its phrased, it looks like you pay the cost for one and then pay the expensive cost for the second.

Uh, I believe you are incorrect. You only have to pay the extra expensive cost for one. Think about it, the epistolary is going to learn one attack just the same as a codicier, but he had to put a lot of extra time to learn the second attack. It doesn;t make sense to pay the super cost for both.

You are all incorrect, you pay the Epistolary cost for both powers because he has a higher leadership value and thus passes his psychic test easier.

It states:

"Any librarain may take the Storm of the Emperor's Wrath pyschic power as described below at no cost or may exchange it for another power at the points cost listed."

This section is not limited to Codiciers, meaning the first power taken is taken at the low cost, or free of SOTEW, even if Epistolary.

"An Epistolary may take and additional psychic power at the second points cost listed."

This ONLY REFERS TO THE SECOND POWER.

Your answer is no.

The "cost" if you will of the alreaddy built in power suffices this cause. You take an extra one at the price listed and the replacement at the price listed. They are just mentioning the fact that you can take two and you have to pay for them.

The text is very clear. Only the 2nd power costs the raised cost.

And, this raises the interesting point that if you select your powers in the right order, you can get a substantial discount. In the Epistolary Librarian's total psychic power costs, X+Y does not equal Y+X. ^_^

It says they may replace this power with an alterb=native power at the specifued cost. Meaning you must pay for it. So they have to pay for both, if they change SOTEW to a different power.

Think of it like this- SOTEW is 0 pts. All others are the listed pts for them. And the librarian comes with SOTEW which can be replaced with another, and a second power can be added. Not too difficult really... :hmm:
