This is a cross post from the painting forum in case anyone here doesnt visit.
Here are some rough shots of the Death Korps Trooper work in progress.
I think I have about 1-2 highlights left to do ..
what do you think of the colour scheme, anything you would change ?
I am thinking of going with either a cityfight base or some form of duckboards (like in a trench).
anything you would add ?
Comments ... Critique ... all welcome !
Niice work man, very smooth painting (Y)
for the base I'd go for cityfight, as I love cityfight
but perhaps trenches would fit death korps better
well, its up to you
If it's a 'trench trooper' I'd definately think about adding some mud splattering to the lower trenchcoat and boot, the marriage of the backpack to the Steel Legion Trooper is very effective, as is the gun swap unless I'm mistaken (? It's been a while since I've looked at the Steel Legion models I msut confess)
The only thing that leaps out at me at fault is a slgiht slip with the brush on the helmet aquilla in the forth pic, tidy that up an overal it's a really nice job
nice work on that trooper, its the forgeworld tank commander, im currently doing a little death korps army and i definitely think that trench based is the best for these chaps. are you planning to do any more??
where did you get that model? did you convert it?
Well, remembering that the Korps was based off of WW1 germans, I would definately add the ornamental spike on top of the helmet. But hey, that's just me.
I know the head and upper body are from a forge world death korps tank commander, but I don't know about the rest.
That's really interesting. How did you do it, if you don't mind telling?
To be fair, the entire Imperial Guard is based on World War One Germans as far as tactics go (though I supppose the large scale pressence of tanks throws a wrench into my theory, the Germans only managed to build a handful of them).
Anyway, nice conversion, one of the best guardsmen I've seen.
very nice conversion, i like it.
from looking at the photo the conversion procces is-
forge world tank commander torso and head
legs- cadian with greenstuffed trench coat
arms- cadian arms, shoulder pads neatly trimmed off, bigger cuffs added with green stuff, heads painted as gloves not fleash.
back pack is from either catahcna or cadian heavey weapons sprue, bedding roll on top is from IG tank accesory sprue.
very nice job, wish i had the patience to paint that nicly.
nice to see you here as well ColGravis.
edit- lol, you have no idea who i am do you, i was Anvils Hammer on Portent, i need to get my name changed here.
