is this configuration good for a tactical squad? 10 man, 1 plasma gun, 1 heavy bolter, in a rhino with smoke launchers. this is for all around fighting, so how well wouldit do overall. I plan to fire the plasma gun and the heavy bolter out of the fire points. Any better configuration? I like shooty over cc, and have the heavy bolters instead of missles, cause I got devs to do that (see below).

Second question. I have a pread annihilator, ven dread for assault, dev squad with 4 missles, and a land speeder tornado. Is this enough heavy fire? Should I go for more troops now?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

    (Y) Yeah, but be sure to add extra armour to the Rhino and (optionally) terminator honours and a power weapon of some description to the sergeant.

Drive up, pile out, rapid fire the enemy into the dust. Maybe give the sergeant a combi-plasma or storm bolter for extra dakka. The heavy bolter is for subsequent turns, and even if you don't get to fire it it's only 5 points. Makes it ideal for including in these sort of squads.

I use this config in my DA army, it works wonders against 5+ saves, and does okay against T4 Sv3+ armies too.

Second question: yes, you need more troops.

Thanks for the help. Also, My friend and I were wondering if the dread cc arm counts as a p fist, as in strikes at I1. I was under the impression that it made all attacks S10, and did not effect I. Also, can you choose to weapon destroy it, or just the right arm and secondary weapons?

Also, do sm ic's pass on abilities like infiltrait to the squads they are attached to?

    Well, to answer your questions, in order;

    1. No. The Dreadnought Power Fist uses his initative. It's not like he's some shrimpy marine...

    2. Yes. Weapon Destroyed can destroy his CC arm.

    3. No. In fact, ICs can only take veteran skills if they are purchased a command squad. Which means they couldn't join another squad until the command squad is dead. Furthermore, ICs never relay abilities to units, and vice versa.

Being in a moving transport counts as having moved for firing purposes, if I'm not mistaken, so you wouldn't be able to pop the HB out of the hatch and fire with the heavy bolter. Plasma gun would be fine, though, just reduced to 12" range.

next question: what would be better, with the above list of heavier weapons I have, a preadator annihilator, or a destructor? note that I mean, do I keep it as a annihliator, or change it to destructor?

Depends on the army, really. For a shooty force, i'd say put your anti-tank in your tac squads and let them fire at seperate targets while your destructor eats up infantry.

On the other hand, if it's an assault force, ala Space Wolves, BT or BA, i'd say stick with the Annihilator.

well, I'm shooty, but my tact squads don't do anti-tank. But I just realized that I need the anniliator, as is the only source of lasconnons, as I dropped my tl las dread...

Also, whats your oppinion on plasma pistols on termie honnors sergent that has a p weapon? I'm not too sure, as if he dies from the gun, that expensive power weapon was just wasted. But the plasma gun is really nice too... I think dropping the gun for a bolt pistol would be smarter, for a assault squad.

I never, ever, ever give plasma pistols to anything but basic squad members. They get them at a discount, and don't pay extra for termie honors to do so.

Er. Then again, I play Space Pups..
