Would you guys ever reccomend taking more than one weapon type in a single Sentinal squad? Specificly, would I better better off putting my Lascannon alone, or would it be ok to put it in with my 2 autocannons?
Mixing weapons in a squadron is always a hard choice. Are you putting your Lascannon with 2 Cadian patterns or just 1? If you have enough units in your army, than the three of them together would be useful against any vehicle type with extra meat to protect the lascannon. If you don't have many units, then the lascannon is best by itself, while the two cadian sentinels can terrorize transports. If you are only using 2 sentinels, then keep them apart, to maximize your targets.

In some cases it's a good idea for example Mars and Cadian sentinels. Both are antipersonnel and they can cover each others weaknesses. The Autocannon has long range, good strength, and decent AP; however it's costly and has a low rate of fire. The Multilaser has a shorter range, a little less strength, and near useless AP; however it's cheap and shoots fast. Mars and Cadian are really the only ones that i would use in a unit together though as I use lascannons to target high armor tanks and nasties with 2+ saves, and flamers of any sort are always better in groups.

Hey, if you have the spare fast attack, split em up. Now, lets say that someone fires their 4 lascannon squad with TK into your squad? A pen for every hit. That would be ugly.
Split them so that large Heavy weapon teams are less effective vs them.
Where's your Baritone Saxophone?
Thanks for the advice. It hadn't occured to me that grouping them might actually reduce thier survivability. That's a good way to look at it, considering the armies I expect to face with them.
unless you're short on fast attack slots (ie you have a Hellhound and RuffRider ).
*always* split up your sentinels!
seriously, nothing is more frustrating than loosing more than one sentinel to one tactical squads turn of bolter fire
ps. and remember, don't give any equipment to sentinels (except perhaps a searchlight).
XA isn't worth it on sentinels? It would seem that, due to the number of penetrating hits they'll take, it might be helpful.

seriously, they die, they die very quickly. keep them *cheap*
an extra 5pt for XA is only one thing, a big waste o' points.
Personnal I take sentinals in 2 formats and both of them get upgrades:
Fast attack: las cannons with HK missiles, these are here to take out tanks, one shot at their BS with a las cannon misses half the time, the HK is to give me an edge in the first turn.
HQ: Autocannon with improved comms - the IC are because everything but the sentinals deep strike, this sits in cover, usually only comming out on the 4th or 5th turn but it increases the chance of Vulture interdiction
