How do you SOB mechanised players fair?
And how would you kill the enemy?
I read up through the codex, and i can see that WH can be a very mech force.. though i see some fault in it.. like drive up against an ork horde? rapid fire rules.. so close already.. more likely to die in hth ? against power armour?....
how is it done?
more like... how do you do it XD.
I am still young in the knowledge of SoB...
forgive my soul of my ignorance and stupidity.
and in need of a mech force.. and seeing if SoB will be taht call to my need
For one thing, against orks take some template weapons and blast weapons, and tool up for close combat, you can also pull of some hoardes with a tricked out Sister of Battle Squad or with Zealots (the rules are in White Dwarf, search the forum for which issue). I'm not extremely experienced with Orks, so I don't know how well penitent engines fare against them, but I imagine Arco-Flaggelants and Repentias will do alright, especially with a priest in that Repentia squad. Perhaps an Excorist or two might be a good bolster, it's a good tank (buggy/kan) killer and can get you six shots a round, that's a good thing.
The other thing you could do is tool out a Dominion squad with four flamers, a Veteran Superior and a Imagifier, using the Divine Guidance Act of Faith. You could also do this with a Battle Sister Hoarde (basic troop squad, high numbers, usually not 20).
Oh, and shoot and try to move back with your non-CC units.
Actually I think one good application would be against nids. We can safely ignore much nid shooting, the tank splatting ability is from when you get near one of the monstrous creatures. However in a scenario where your under attack from gaunts its actually ok, seeing as generally they dont have the equivalent of the Krak/Haywire/Bomz that can be added onto their squads (ok they can have mutant strength upgrades yes, but a couple of S4 hits, and thats IF they get round the back).
What I'm saying is that supposing you played nids, and a large gaunt brood was approaching it could be a case of "Oh dear lads(or girls), into the Rhino quick", and then you show them the error of their ways when you fire the flamers out the doors.
Of course, there is two on the Chimera, if you want to take a couple of Grenade launchers in a Storm Trooper squad. You could also tool up a Dominion Squad with Storm Bolters for some multiple shots right into close combat.
Hmm, so you can get more shots out of a SM Rhino than a SOB one? I never noticed that before.
I thought you said there was one firepoint in the WH Rhino? Seeing as there is two in the Marine one.
Or are you asking a Rhetorical Question and expecting me to know why?
