I'm sure my "playstyle" could dictate this, but I thought I would ask anyways...
I would like some opinion's on the best usage for Wolf Scouts coming in from the enemy side... I figure max squad one with a meltagun, but I'm not sure what to equip the rest as. Do I do bolters for the 24" range and rapid fire or the pistols for the extra attack in melee. Would plasma pistols be worth adding a couple?
I am leaning towards the bolters as it allows me to really outflank my opponent, especially since I have a ven-dread and grye hunter drop podding in. I like the scouts for the "behind enemy lines" ability and they are decently priced. Constructive input welcome and wanted!
I have two squads of scouts.
1 - OBEL, 5 scouts, meltagun, 2 plasma pistols, power weapon, one stock
2 - SM gear, 6 scouts, ML/HB, 5 sniper rifles.
Both have served me pretty well. I take both against sit and shoot SM forces. Nice to pin a SM squad once in a while so I can charge them with reduced fire coming at me.

I think the most useful is to max the squad out with power weapons, melta guns and meltabombs. That way they can either take out a dev squad (or army eqiuvelant) or a tank. IMO wolf scouts are mint, too many times my friends SW scouts have destroyed my basilisk or some SM squad to close to the edge.

I'm with Cypher on most of this, for my behind enemy lines squad I use 6 scouts; one with a meltagun, 2 with plasma pistols, and three normal, all with meltabombs. These guys are used almost solely for tank hunting with the occasional shot at a heavy weapons squad. I also use a 5 man squad with 4 sniper rifles and a heavy bolter for the obvious pinning ability.
