It seems only natural that they should be able to, yet appears they do not have the option. This isn't something that you can do through wargear, as the entire squad has to have it, right?
No, GK cannot have frag grenades. You can purchase frag grenades for the Justicar (wargear). In that case the Justicar would go simultaneously with the defenders, and the rest of his squad would go last.
Or you can charge them out of a LR crusader and get the benefit of its assault launchers. Unless your going the inducted guard or all teleporting route i'd consider a crusader pretty essential anywayz but thats just me...Originally Posted by Sir_Prometheus
HALO 2 - Sure those first few games where you wipe out the opposition with the rocket launcher, overshield and camoflage are fun but after a while you start looking for something more. Next it has to be death by plasma sword or sticky bomb, till pretty soon only clobbering your opponent with the butt of your rifle will do. The more difficult something is to do, the more fun it is when you pull it off. For IG players the word for this is Mobility
I was aware of that, and I am considering it. I just thought it was weird that GK can't get frag grenades. I think a crusader is cool, but two things keep me from getting it A) Tau are my main army, this DH force is just a change flavor, it isn't likely to be large for a while. For transport of GK, I was kinda planning doing the ST welcome mat, run 'em forward in rhinos with teleport homers. Obviously, this less assaulty powerful than the crusader, but that way you have multiple places you could deply from, keep 'em guessing. And, it's cheaper (sorta, the ST are worth something in and of themselves, especially with meltaguns).
any model in terminator armor cannot have any grenades, they are too stiff to trow!
Really? Another thing I didn't know.
why get a frag when u can get the justicar a melta bomb? *smirks* w/ the right 2d6 rolls, watch tanks go BOOM.
I assume you're thinking of krak grenades when they said frag. Frag grenades allow a model assaulting models in cover to act at the same time (instead of the defenders going first). Krak grenades are weaker versions of meltabombs.Originally Posted by DorhnkurkIn the armoury, look for the items marked with an asterisk. Terminators can ONLY use those items. Therefore, no grenades, no pistols, etc. But don't get confused - models that DON'T have terminator armor ARE still allowed to use items with asterisks. The only exception (I believe) is a chainfist, which REQUIRES terminator armor to use.Originally Posted by Sir_Prometheus

yeah, really my only concern here was getting GK frag grenades so they could assault more effectively. Keep in mind, due to true grit, I'd still mostly be trying to get someone to assault me in cover, but if the enemy has frag grenades, it'd be worth it to assault them instead.
So, for a lousy 1 pt it sounds really worth it to give the justicar a frag grenade. Kinda a "who knows?, might use it" sorta thing. And if there was a model you'd want to hit first, it's be the justicar.
I really can't see any reason why they can't take frag grenades. I mean, it stands to reason that they would have them. They're still Marines.
