Okay ive been reading the space marine codex and looking around on the GW website and have noticed that vindicators seem to have been cast aside and forgotten, in the codex there are no images and the only mention is in the points section, also on the GW workshop the model shown is far out of date
just my thoughts, but out of experience how many vindicator users are there?
"In a large war, the tanks only battle the tanks, its up to the footsloggers to win the war" -me
I've seen the Vindicator used to a horrible and devestating effect. This kid using Iron Hands toasted an entire squad of Broadside Battlesuits with railguns on the first turn, then proceeded to wipe out the opposition the rest of the game since there was nothing significant enough to stop his tanks.
"Courage is not the absence of fear, it is the conquest of it." -Anon
I have one myself although it's the chaos version for the IW, it's one of the most feared weapons I have at my disposal.
They don't want to get near it as they know few can survive beeing under that pie plate of doom.
I use a Vindicator in my BA force. Biggest 125pts fire magnet ever, and rightly so because those that don't take it down soon learn the power and dominince it can bring.

Im an IG player, and while the vindicator is good, its not a LR demolisher
the demolisher cannon is great, not only as the closest thing you will get to a weapon of mass destruction, but also as a tool of psychological warefare becuase nobody wants to go near that tank.
Yeah, but oneof my friends brings a LR demolisher every time. Its never survivedthe first go and its not like i was going to shoot anything else, his termies are in DS and the IG can waitOriginally Posted by melta

Sadlly Demolishers are even more survivable then Vindicators.
Yes, the vindicator has awesome offensive potential. However, when you couple the short range with the abismal side armor, you get a vehicle that will no doubt spend the game doing very little if it hasnt been blown up.

Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
Heh, the best unofficial tank shock since a Land Raider. Take it and watch the enemy move backwards and poor all his fire at it. Take two and drive them into a corner or watch them get confused as to which one to blow up, or take one with a Land Raider, get them to fire mainly at the Land Raider while you wreak havoc with the Vindicator. Only problem is it takes a good shot from a rocket launcher and 125 points are down the drain.
Yeah, and if it's just rolled into a great firing position and you get any result on the table except immoblised you do get dissapointed when you cannot shoot next turn. It should be good, but isn't. Only thing i can think if is when defending against a power armour CC army, like World Eaters...

Warhammer 40k: Eldar, Space Marines, Orks
I love vindicators. I'll nearly always take at least one against a power armour or Necron opponent.
They're cheap, and scare the living hell out of everyone. It will die, but in a 2000 point game, i'm happy to scarifice it as the amount of fire they draw is immense. And if it survives long enough to shoot, so much the better.
