In the Reflection I see Myself Dying, In the Reflection I see my Body lying Next to Me.
Well, it's always good to have some sniper Scouts. They can hurt anything. Assault Marines are great to have around too. I'd say two Elite slots should be taken by Assault Marines. An eight-man Devastator squad with four missle launchers is one of the most versitile Heavy Support options we have. Make sure you snag two Land Speeder Tornadoes for two of your Fast Attack slots. anything without a good save will loathe these, and for that you will love them. The best starting HQ would be a Chaplain with a jump pack, bolt pistol, and Terminator Honors at least. I also recommend you read Chaosbrynn's Hidden Power Fist Tactica article and put it to use in your Assault Squads.
Welcome to the noble Raven Guard. May the enemies of the Emperor die at your strike from the shadows.
By the way, that is an awesome avatar. Would you PM me where you found that and what that symbol is? Thanks.
Heavy Infantry assault squads scout squad and tactical squad and maybe a walker thats bout all i can say due to my lack of knowledge about this chapter.
And maybe Shrike in a assault squad that infiltrates cus raven guard or shrike is allowed to infiltrate isnt he?anyway i dont know alot on Raven Guard or there rules.
The problem with Shrike and Shrike's Wing is that they get expensive very fast. You could make a custom Master and toss him in an Assault Squad and he'd likely have more survivability. It's even easier with a Chaplain and the squad will get to re-roll failed to-hits in close combat.Originally Posted by Tycho

what I find interesting about shrikes gaurd is that they are point wise expensive, but look at what you are getting for the points.
Each is a marine with jump pack and a pair of lightning claws. So realistically you are getting a discount on individual items by taking them as his gaurd.
Assuming you were going to buy a unit of all assault marines with lightning claws, yes it is a lot cheaper. However they are still a horrible points sink and more expensive than terminators which get a better armor save. Granted they are good at assaulting first turn but one trick ponies rarely win consistently
I think that Shrike and his Wing are quite underpowered for the points. Sure, you get lightning claws and jump packs on everyone, but the price for even a single Wingman is ridiculously high. Shrike lacks two things that would help him live longer, an invulnerable save and artificer armor. Besides, using a special character just seems creatively cheap to me. Any player could make a Master with similar equipment and he'd survive better than Shrike.
If you were to play Raven Guard, I'd recommend that every HQ model you use or plan to use have a jump pack and be fitted for close combat. At least one Assault Squad occupying an Elites slot (for Furious Charge) is mandatory in my opinion. At least one squad of Scouts (close combat or snipers) is a must. Raven Guard get more milage out of the Tenth Company than any other Chapter. Land Speeders are perfect for Raven Guard as well, my personal favorite being the heavy bolter/assault cannon Tornado pattern. For heavy support, one Devastator Squad is really all you need. Just because you can take only one tank doesn't mean you have to take it. A Venerable Dread with a twin-linked lascannon, missle launcher, and the Tank Hunter skill also makes for excellent heavy support. Just make sure you don't use any Rhinos or Razorbacks, since that's not really Raven Guard's style. As for a commander, a Chaplain with a bolt pistol, jump pack, and Terminator Honors (not Terminator Armor) will do great and enhance the performance of the Assault Squad.
