Hey guys, I'm a novice player of WH40K, and I already play an IG army.
Now, I am very interested in fielding an armoured company, so I have a few questions for you.
1) What are specific pros and cons of an armoured company in comparison to a standard IG army?
2) How would you go about acquiring the more rare tanks? Buy the full packages of Forge World, or just the special parts and get the basic from the regular store? Or just outright get the basic and convert it yourself?
If you could help me out with these questions, I'd really appreciate it!
I can't say about gaming terms, but as I mainly collect Imperial Guard for the models I can help you with #2. My advice is that with any hobby, it's more fun to make stuff yourself rather than throw loads of notes at it. That's not fun at all, so I wouldn't really go with forgeworld models unless you want everything to be straight edge and perfect- in which case, I'd say "yeah, go forgeworld". From conversion alone I now have a Leman Russ Conqueror and a Salamander scout vehicle, and it was much more fun rather than following a set of black and white instructions. Check out the "Leman Russ Conqueror" thread for a picture of my conqueror.
