ok, so the new assault marine box comes with a storm shield yes?, well i was wondering if anyone uses them. i know vet sergeants that see combat shouldnt leave home without power fists but what about these shields, what are your thoughts?
Hmm... I'd only use them if I had the leftover points to equip a veteran sergeant with one, but I never seem to have those points. Besides, the hidden power fist cannot be singled out, and that's protection enough in many cases. Why spend those points unless you have absolutely no other use for them?
Yeah, im of the same opinion. Although I do generally give one to my bike sergeant as I am inevitably left with him and my chaplain when I field that unit. Aside from that, they havnt proven very useful for me.
Mentor of Space Marine Commanders far and wide.
Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
I would agree, as any vet serg is gonna have some good weapon, you don't want to waste points when he has 10 3+ saves to go though first, haha!
Sorta off topic: you think gw would frown at saying the techmarine model has a iron halo or combat sheild, but you say its the little antena thingy on his back pack? To me that looks like a good sheild generator, though I'm starting to think that represents his signum... What's your thoughts on this? I would like to give my techy a inv save and its universal, as it can represent both, but 1) I don't want to ruin the model with a bad looking out of place sheild or halo, and 2) hes already too crowded for those kind of things...

I have one squad of assault marines with storm shields. this squad has 2 powerfists and is coming along with my chaplain. I play BT so maybe it makes some difference in points.
