I am starting my Iron Hands army, and I am trying to justify using termie armor on any sergs. Right now, the cons greatly out weigh the pros, but I would like to know what every one else thinks...
super cheap upgrade saves
storm bolter (can you even give termies pistols?)
Thats all I can think of
no sweeping advances
60 points for a good serg (armor, honnors, storm bolter, fist)
I know there was another, but my memory is crap...I'll edit when/if I remeber..
And termie sergs would only be good in a assault tact squad....
Post any other pros/cons you can tink of too please.
So, whats your oppinion, if you played/play Iron hands, or use scions of mars as a trait, would you bother ever taking termie sergs?
Nah, not really any use at all. You can get all the weapons seperatly and use a fist with a pistol for more attacks. The save is the only advantage, but how often are you left with the sergeant alone. It'd only be a hinderance, and a point sink. But fluffily it's pretty good, so it's always up to you.
I was under the impression that giving Terminator Armour to the sergeant of a tactical squad or devestator squad was illegal anyway, something about mixing terminator armour and regular powered armour in the same squad. I could be wrong about this, but regardless, you seem to be correct--Terminator armour is not a particularly worthwhile piece of equipment for sergeants.
That being said, it's a remarkably worthwhile piece of equipment for HQ choices, since it gives them the benifits of artificer armour, an iron halo (almost), and terminator honours in less than half the points of the other three.
are you talking about terminator honors? If so then that isnt the same thing, when you give a serg TH then he still has a 3+ armor save but just gets to choose wargear items, none of them being Terminator weapons. It just slightly increases his stats.
...upon your defeat you retreat to the morgue, for maybe you will find a better life amongst the dead...
Dont think theres really any advantage to putting your veteran sargeant in terminator armour. Although he would have a better save, he would seriously hinder your squads movement abilities in an assault. Would eat up too many points too. Probably just a better idea to leave him in regular power armour, give him termie honors, a power fist, and maybe something like a plasma pistol. Be about the same points as putting him in terminator armour, and you'd have a pretty beasty sargeant.
No...equiping termie armor on sarges is a special rule for Iron Hands chapter.
I've wanted to do it, but my termies are hella short so its kinda embarrasing to field.
Hope Is The First Step On The Road To Dissapointment.
Ah, I see...sneaky. It is a shame about the stunted terminators, but even if it is legal to use them, it doesn't seem that it's worth it. I'd probably just skip over that fiat of the Iron Hands rules if I were you.Originally Posted by Pidgeon_Death
Yeah, I agree.....although fluff wise it would be pretty cool to see a terminator leading a squad of power armoured battle brothers, tactically it would make things a little more difficult. Without being able to make a sweeping advance, you loose alot of the benefit of having space marines.
No, i specifically said termie armor, because I meant termie armor. Read my post. It says there's a trait that allows sers with termie honnors to also equip the armor.Originally Posted by Reverend
