I've only ever seen on SM player use them in a game but they seem pritty good (very fast and shooty). Why dont I see them more often? He has his speeder at the objective holding it after the first movment phase.
I use a land speeder with a multi melter and i love it .
They are, IMHO, one of the best vehicles in the game.

Tyranids - 8W 0L 0D
Simple realy, high point cost and the fact that almost every gun in the game can kill it easily. All you need is a few bolters to take one down, which is a shame as they can be a good unit. I find that a multi melta equiped speeder that hugs cover and fires into the side and rear of enemy tanks to be an ok idea though. Just my 2 cents,
Speeders are quite different then the rest of the marine arsenal. They are a finess weapon. They are very fast and very shooty and are in fact my favorite unit ( I use 13 in my 1500 ravenwing list). The reason people do not use them is they are quite fragile. Read the speeder tactica at the top of this forum in the sticky thread to get a better idea about land speeders.

Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
Since the dawn of the rending Assault Cannon there has been a vast increase in the use of the Land Speeder Tornado.
Perhaps psychologically in the past there has been a belief that they are weak and too easily shot down, I don't know, but you are right, there was a distinct lack of them.
Also, you may now use any variant of Land Speeder to make up a squad and this also makes them much more versatile.
Believe me, wover the next few months you will see more and more of them being used.
I personally own 12 of them (but then I do play Ravenwing as one of my armies)

i am also a huge fan of land speeders, but you certanly have to be careful with them cause they are fragile, but being fast help cause when you move far everything is glancing.
quick question Chaosbrynn
i have been thinking about starting a raven witn army, you said you play with 13 landspeeders in yours, how is that possible, i can only see a max number of 10 (master of ravenwing, and 3 squads of 3 which make a total of 10) how do you get 13?
I think the Master can take a retinue of Land Speeders.
I could be wrong, though.

ya thats what i thought but in the current dark angel FAQ it says that and i quote
"ravenwing arrmy" (p.4)
"-ignore the reference to ravenwing command squads."
"dark angels charaters in a ravenwing army may not have command squads"
i could be wrong but to me that sounds like they can't
sorry to be off topic, but according to the recent dark angels FAQ there attack bike are still 1 wound and 2+ save right, i havent be able to find anything that says they use the new attack bike stats, lol i think i would rahter have the 2 wounds, but oh well.
I think that it is the cost of a unit of speeders. If you were to get a unit of three tornados, it would cost you $105. That is a hefty tag for a single 210 pt (my guess off hand) unit.
