Welcome to Librarium Online!
Im going to restart my DH army which is to say the least very small and was wondering if u guys could help me re-build. What i have so far is 1 GK squad,1 GK termi squad, throne of judgment (allie for SO,stern and coteaz. I know its a samml force,if u can even call it that but its what i was collecting before i gave it all up. So if u guys coud point me in the right direction it would be great.
First thing to do, is decide if you are going to play a pure GK or not. If you are going for pure then another GK squad is in order. If not, an IST squad in a Rhino/Chimera with some special weapons should be your next buy. From there you could go for a dread, or more GK's, induct IG, more SoB ...

It isn't just a small force - it's an illegal force. You don't have two DH Troops choices, which you need. And you can't induct Special Characters from any other army into a list, so no Throne.Im going to restart my DH army which is to say the least very small and was wondering if u guys could help me re-build. I'd suggest buying two units of Inquisitorial Stormtroopers, one with 2x Plasma Guns, and the other with 2x Meltaguns. Preferrably with transports, but some players don't like those.
Wrong,i have heard from several ppl the same thing but i have also heard from GW staff that as long as i take it as a special unit and not elite or vise versa then it is fine.Originally Posted by mEGALOMANIAC

i know melta guns are really nice and all, but i just don't like em that much on ISTs unless they're in a rhino. they just feel so... exposed (12" away from any enemy.. and shooting.. wonder if they're gonna assault them?).
and as for that claim that u can take special units, can u find and link anything that states u can take allied unit's special chars?
"One thing that intrigues people to fantasy is how different it is from reality. Make sure you remember that difference, and you'll have a wonderful time."
It says in the WH army book that the throne can only be used in WH army, so no throne in a DH force.
Grey knight squad 1
They are there to get charged. On top of that, with 2 Flamer/Meltas/Plasmas they can actually do some damage before setting up the countercharge. :cool:Originally Posted by Dorhnkurk
What you do is you have them run up and shoot the enemy in the face after deploying from a rhino........and then you drop GK on them with a teleport homer. You then encourage the enemy to charge voiceiferously.
Your army list should reflect who you play and what type of games you play.
Here is an IG based list
- a heavy weapons teams for the command squad
- lascannons or missile launchers
-veteran sergeant in each squad
- lascannons or autcannons usually
1 Leman Russ
- heavy bolter or 1 lascannon / heavy bolters
- improved comm
1 Calvary unit
- a Calvary sergeant
- exploding lances
2 squads of inquistorial stormtroopers
- rhino transports
- 2plasma or 2meltas
- teleport homer
1 Callidus assassin
2 Grey knight deep strike force
- justicar with psybolts, bombs and teleport homers
1 Brother-Captain Stern
This is just a boad over view of an army based to stand against the tau. The idea is to have your best units deep strike and to destroy their big guns. The biggest risk is the Leman Russ since 14 armor is nothing to a rail gun. But it is my experience that Tau players are very protective of their broadsides and hammerheads and often try for the sentinels first. Use the sentiels and heavy weapons teams go head to head against their heavies. If the Leman Russ survives the 1st turn the battle cannon will destroy tau elites. The callidus's nero shredder and cc attacks can destroy any unit of your choice. The two inquistors with psycannons, rg 36", are excellent to deal with fire warriors. The storm troopers and rhinos can be used for strategic puposes and another unit for the rail guns to target. The imperial guard just provide meat for the grinder but can be surpisingly effective as is the calvary.
Though this army is designed for the tau it can give you some inspiration against other races. I don't know enough about sisters of battle or space marines if you wish to go that route, just what I have done my IG componet.
Don't special characters require 1500 (or so) of that specific army to use? So you would need 1500pts of inducted SoB if I'm right.Originally Posted by Sorrow
Sounds like you would be better doing a parent SoB list and induct the GK units you already have. and get the rest of the SoB elements.
