    sentinels

yes they are cheap, but you must first purchase 2 platoons (or armoured fists) on top of having 2 grey knight troop choices. It is expensive to do this. I personally am a major fan of senitels ever since one of them took out two monoliths in two consecutive turns during a game. I wouldn't use them in a thousand point game or less though. The cheapest way to add lascannons is by adding a IG platoon.

As soon as any better targets nearby as Shooty Inq retinue/ Fully loaded transport etc.your sentinels will die extremely-quickly (even faster than that if they got Lascannons).

Often your opponent will direct his heavy AT against your Dreadnoughts/LR etc. and still got Heavybolters and the like to use agains your fragile walkers...

I dont use them anymore but here is the "tactic-variants" I've used:

    - Flamer: Bad (unless deepstriking..that DH cant do)...worst variant ever..

    - Multilaser: Too short range (ie. within Heavybolterrange)

    - Lascannon: One shoot wonder, you got one...maybe 2 shoots with 4+ to get a hit before you dead since this variant is highly prioritaded target. A Hunterkiller is normaly a good chooice on this one.

    - Autocannon: Average, If you can stay out of most of his medium-strength guns you may actually pop a Rhino or a LandSpeeder... but 2 GK would be better......

Armored Fist squads are cheap & extremely useful in a DH force, so the prerequisite for Sentinels isn't too bad.

I'd suggest NOT putting lascannons on them. That'll make them a prime target - and with AV10 & open topped, even a Marine with a bolter can kill them. I use Autocannons - cheaper, and twice the number of shots. They're great vs transports with an Autocannon. If you have the points to spare, throw a Hunter/Killer missile on one or two of the squadron as well.

You have to pay for the upgrade to close-topped, since you're just buying a vanilla Sentinel. Not that an armored top will help an AV 10 vehicle.
