I collect blood angels and have done so for 3 years and I have always leant towards a more shooty approach. The good thing withthe blood angels is that the shooting whittles down the enemy and then they can handle themselves in close combat. I have always belived in taking advice so if anyone has any advice I would gladly take it.
4 missile launchers
4 heavy boters
heaps of boltguns
lanspeeder (heavy bolter)
heaps of veterans
various other men <
I mainly built my army up to beat a tyranid foe but would like to make an all round enemy beating army. I'm thinking about getting a terminator assault squad and crusader. Any thoughts
for starters, an organised army list would be helpful. 2 quit wiht the smiles, it get boring and annoying at the same time ot ahve 50 on the post.
<insert witty remark here>
you do know that blood angels arent shooty.....they kinda move so heavy weapons are useless.

He's made it work it seems and it works for him
I agree with The Darkness, i'ts a smart idea
Sometimes, the blood angels close combat opponent will simply be better against them- Ive played roughly 20 games against my Blood Angel opponent (with nearly as many assault marines as me, thats scary! who takes an army obsessed with close combat, while i use my precious Black Templars. So far, i havent lost to BA.
Nids, Orks, Chaos, Dark Eldar and a few others can probably do much the same thing. So taking an army which will not only be able to blast the enemy (yeah they sometimes run forward, thats why he has taken several units that can shoot), they will be something of a surprise to the enemy (shooty blood angels?)
personally i agree with darkness,
smiley faces are cool. anyway the main point i would like to make is that salamander is a @!$%. you'd think you were trying to put new players off.
I have used blood angels and find that wearing down a stronger enemy before getting into close combat has worked against all my other armies including my nightbringer. (only once )
i've noticed that having them stand back and shoot for a while can work too while some of the stronger units hold those units on the other team which are too strong to be beaten with strength alone
Well I put my army like that as to get your opinion as to how I would arrange it. Normally I would arrange my heavy weapons into 3 Devastator squads each consisting of four of the same weapon. These squads can concentrate on enemy units until they are gone. these squads are good at taking done squads with good amor values such as big tyranids because of the good AP. I normally wouldn't take the vindicator because the tyranids blow it apart before it has a chance to show it's stuff.
I normally get two to four solid rounds of shooting in from each squad, sure they go crazy but it doesn't really affect them to much because they do so much damage when they shoot they can aford to go crazy. I roughly get one to go crazy every two turns but sometimes this lets me move them to a better position. I normally have squads of complete bolters as to mow down the smaller foe and to take up the wounds from screening.
I can't put in an army list because I never use the same army twice. I like to try a little differnt each time. Anyway I was just wondering if anyone can see any gaps in my army which could be fixed up. Such as a terminator assualt squad in a land raider?
 <_<   :w :a < 8|
Or any tactics which anyone would think that would benefit my force at hand.
Give em all Smiley face masks..... that much sacharrin should drive any foe to concede by round 3, just to get away!
dispite all the funny stuf in this topic BLOOD ANGELS DONT DO SHOOTING!!.....sorry..... ^_^ it is like going close combat with tau, it doesnt fit blood angels.
Uh, then why would they have guns?
