Recently i've heard some stuff about these so called crusade armies which are supposed to be made up of a bunch of different chapters. I was just wondering where one can find the rules for these, and if they were official armies recognized by GW. Also, is it a space marine only army or can it include other forces of the imperium??
I'de this should be moved to the rumor section...
But that rumor is close to what I heard. I heard that they are going to re-realese Black templars, and that they're going to be like the Knights of the Crusade. (Lots, of fanatical junk.... lol)
I thought a crusade army is just a chapter that doesnt have a home world.
...upon your defeat you retreat to the morgue, for maybe you will find a better life amongst the dead...
there are rules for multiple division armies.....
core rule book... don't recall the exact page...
basically, each "army" (in this case, chapter) has it's own organization chart and must fill the mission requirements separately...
if you're running vanilla marines, with no advantages, you could field multiple "chapters" (color schemes) as a single army, as they'd all have the same stats anyways... making the chapters just flavor text...
that's what I do for my "Emporer's Mixed Nuts" (a chapter composed of the criminally insane of other chapters who've yet to actually do something bad enough to call down the inquisition...)
Wouldn't the Deathwatch of the Ordo Xenos come under that blanket?
A Unit composed of Space Marines from other chapters?
Whoso would be a man must be a non conformist
People should be taught what is, not what should be.
im very confused, so a crusade army is basically just a bunch of space marines painted differently?? I thought it was like a space marine force that could take white scars bikes, grey knight termies, wulfen, death guard, and ravenwing or something all under the same army, oh wel...
A crusade army is basically a force of marines from different chapters fighting together for the same cause. So if you really wanted to make a crusade army you can use a codex army and paint your squads from different chapters, not mix the squads.
Ultramarines Second Company
darnit, hmmmm........ maybe i could make my own crusade army the way i thought it would be, just for fun.... oh well
Yeah you could do that and give the traits to the squads just write all of it down on paper and as your opponets permission.
Really all it is is a more flavorful way to use space marines. Pictue this a massive battle where several space marien capters are fighing together (Read warriors of Ultramar), the warriors are mixed up in the fury of battle and are fighting in the same area. If you want to use traits use Trust your battle brothers and a similar drawback.
I like it because i get tired of painting every thing the same way.

so you have 3 options...
1. apply the same bonuses to all units, and just say that's the "dominant chapter" (IE: Stat them all like white scars, despite the fact that only the bikers look like WScars... ) ... (this option will prolly piss off alot of players as it's difficult to understand/remember why your units painted like Ultramarines are acting like Blood ANgels and the like...)
2. run vanilla marines (no variants) and paint them however you want... (i know a couple of people who do this, making each squad pulled from a different chapter...) not hard to remember what is special about them, as there is nothing special to remember.
3. run a single unique chapter (either a variant from the SMCodex or one of the other codeces) with Witch Hunter or Daemon Hunter allies... you only get 2 chapters to paint, but get some flexability...
personally, I go with 2 and 3... where if my units are not definately Witch Hunters they are vanilla Marines (The Emp's Mixed Nuts...)
