Why don't some of the humans from deathworlds or desert planets or any other area with such a harsh climate have any bonuses to S or T? It seems like a Catachan would be stronger than a normal person because only the best of the best survive the harsh inviorment. That seems like it would be fair if you just bumped the cost up a point or two and give the soldier +1 strength.
Look at it this way.
No Guardsman will ever have the physical strength of a Space Marine, it doesn't matter where they live. Instead, these bonuses are inferred in the better WS. Plus, despite the fact that Deathworld Vets don't wear armor, and have the same save as someone with Flak Armor, means that they're tough enough to catch a slug in their chests or whatever.

Mech Tau Cadre: 2000 points, needs paint and magnets.
Paladins of Avalon (SW):-1500 points, needs paint.
There's a big difference between S3 and S4. S4 is an inhuman amount of strength, it's a whole different level of strength from S3. Even if it was the fittest of the fit surviving on a deathworld, evolution wouldn't make them 7-8' tall with a physique to match, like a space marine. They would simply be the best a human could be.
So only beings significantly larger than a human with far more muscle mass, like a marine or an Ork skarboy, classify as S4.
take a look at Inquisitor (the game). the stats are much more indepth (obviously). in there a Catachan would be much stronger than your average guardsman. however, when you look at him compared to a SM, there's just in different leagues.
if mermory serves me correct an average human (ie Str3) is around 50 in Inq. a SM is (i think) over 200. a REALLY strong human would be like 100... so even then, a SM is over twice as strong!
Boxant - to add to your =][= statement,
Strength: the average human has about 40-50, humans can have up to, but no more than 100, SMs have 150+ from memory Quite clearly no guardsman is ever going to have the strength of a marine, never mind a marine in powered armour!
Check out the new Catachan Codex on the GW website. Most of the Catachans have a WS of 4 because of all the jungle forcing them to get closer to their enemies or some other fluffy reason.
Yeah but it just seems like some humans may have evolved past the boundry and just be stronger. Evolution can go really fast in junge and I'm just wondering why the basic gaunt in a tyranid army can be strength 4 but not a guardsman from a world that has plants that attack you and scorpions the size of tanks.
Gaunts get str increase from toxin sacs not real strength, plus a human is actually much stronger, but we cant use all or muscles or we would damage ourselves. Do you think the hive mind cares if its gaunts have a 3 week shelflife before their amped muscles tear them apart? They just get recycled and used again.
Here endeth the biology lesson.
If Slugga boys get S3, I don't think anything we could possiby do to our little fellows could make us S4!

read the guants ghost series, in there the orks are really scary, twice the height of a man and almost twice as strong and still these guys have s3.Originally Posted by Diggums Hammer
