Ive recently gotten into witch hunters and was looking to make more of a CC/heavy support list. I currently have a Cannoness, =][=, 2 sister squads, immolator, penitent engine, Priest, Exorsist, 5 jump pack sisters and some flagellents. What do you think I should get next? Should I give my cannoness a jump pack and put her into the squad? I was thinking to make a heavy support list that wares down the enemy before my sisters go in for the kill using CC and bolters etc.

Hmm...well with a WH army, you basically try to shoot most of your opponents down BEFORE they get into CC. Unlike certain armies (Tau for instance) Sisters aren't completely screwed when the opponent gets in close (thank you power armor!). I'd recommend a Squad of Sisters Repentia if you like CC, they move faster than most other WH units and are fairly good in close combat....just make sure they don't ALL get killed before reaching their target. Put a preist in the repentia squad and they'll always charge into close combat whenver possible, PLUS they can re-roll hits to miss.

LOL, yeah you could look at it like that.Originally Posted by MiketehFox

If you're looking for close combat with Sisters, consider using a Canoness with a Jump Pack and the Blessed Weapon, and then running her with a unit of Seraphim. The turn you wish to charge, separate her from the Seraphim, and have them charge separately. The Canoness locks the squad in combat and the Seraphim can use Hit and Run to threaten other targets.
This needs some practise and some suitable targets, and in truth the WH list is not a CC army. If you're wanting that, try some variety of Marines/Chaos or Nids, possibly some tooled-up Eldar forces as well. I don't try assaulting with my WH, I only prepare to blunt the inevitable assault as much as I can with my army selections, as the opponent, no matter who tey are, will normally try and close with you as you can shoot him to pieces at short range.

I wanted to put some repentia in but they cost an awful lot and I have heard bad things. Anyone here had really good experience with repentia? how to cover them when charging across the table? I was thinking of putting 1 penitent engine in, is it worth it?

PEs don't last alone, and will likely be outnumbered if not in squads of 3. And if your going to go through and make it so you can get PEs might as well get 3!
As far as Repentia, I don't have any, yet. :3 But thier rules are quite awsome. Move towards the enemy when you fail a Ld test is quite awsome, and the fact that they could be move an extra D6'' is cool. I can't wait to get my repentia to rip apart my friends Scorpions! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
I dont understand why everyone thinks were not in any way a CC army. This army has a very solid CC potential. Arcos, Penitents, Repentias, CC HQ's, Eversor Assassin, Flamers & Assault weapons. Sure Battle Sisters are toast (Except Against Tau, you suck tau!) but at least theyre cheaper than my CSM.
Sisters Repentia work very well if screened properly (Rhinos) or when advancing in cover. Just make sure they are not running directly into the guns of your enemy, or else they will achieve deliverance far earlier than you would like them to.
You might field a few Rhinos with Battle Sisters, who will rush forward using Smoke Grenades in the first round and disembark their faithful passengers in the 2nd turn, at the same time providing cover. The Sisters will now be able to engage into short range firefights, whilst at the same time the Repentias will follow them and rush forward into battle as the enemy might likely try to bind your bolter-equipped Battle Sisters into CC.
Celestians are also a nice choice when considering Close Combat, by the way. Together with a well-equipped Canoness they might even easily take out a Space Marine HQ, for example.
Since I'm a Sororitas fanatic, I don't use Arco-Flagellants or Penitent Engines, however.
You may als consider getting some Zealots, which work very well as "human shields" when used in large mobs. They are cheap, they are many and above all they are expendable. Though they are perfect for keeping CC away from our precious Sisters, they may also be a good addition to any CC-riented Witch Hunters force.
