does anyone have any tips suggestions or ideas for converting or obtaining some cheap, easy and or cool drop pods that doesnt include buying them from forge world or just writing DROP POD on a peice of paper??? basically im lookin to build my own cheap and (ideally) quicly
I'm trying to build one from scratch right now. Basically I am using foam board cut into three triangle shapes (right triangles) with a slight bend in them along the long edge, bending out ward placed equally around a circle ring in the center. And then using six pieces of insulation foam, but you could use styrofoam cut into smaller traingles, set on either side of the foamboard. I then am using a circular can(like a pringles can, to form an inner ring, that is maybe 1 cm tall or so, and then filling in the center of the ring with more foamboard. Wish it was finished so I could take a picture...hope you get what I mean. Probably won't look as good as a store bought one, but styrofoam and foam board are cheap, and with one sheet of foamboard, I can make like 10 pods.
You can make paper cut outs. There are site such as ***.*****************.*** that have patterns but were not allowed tell you.
Three Companies of the 26th Vinancium
143rd Airborne Badgers (99.9% done)
159th Corsair Rifles (35% done))
69th Armored Wall Busters (95% done)
Total 197 men, 12 tanks, 4 Heavy Artillery Pieces
There are two people who you can send a PM to asking for a drop pod templete. One of them is Chaosbrynn, one of the moderators here. The other is nickster14 (spelling may be off here), another member here. Note that I have included ready-made links to their profiles. Just buzz one or both of them and tell them your e-mail address. They'll send you the templete as an attachment via e-mail.Originally Posted by beiltan2003
Victorus aut mortis,
personally, i don't like the forgeworld ones... i don't see 10 marines rushing out of that easilly...
i use CD spools, so they look like something outta old sci-fi movies...
would templates be legal in a tournament??? or would people be pissy about me not actually having models?!? veridcts?

Seeing as how the Drop Pod is an official transport as detailed in the codex, I see no reason why you shouldn't use them in RTT's and other lesser tourneys. I would advise against using them at GW Store tourneys, seeing as how they insist you use the Forge World ones. I know it sounds anal, but that's how it goes with GW stores.Originally Posted by beiltan2003
Victorus aut mortis,
It may sound dodgy but stay with me, if you know anyone who works in a warehouse.
Ferrero Rocher Egg Displays.
With additional cardboard panels they look perfect as drop pods, plus no complaints about size as 10 marines could ge in there easy. I've got a couple converted up, admittedly they have to be closed doors but the image comes across fine.
Plus the added bonus is you get a tasty chocolate treat with it.
Ask not a question of the eldar, for they will give you three answers all of which are true and horrifying to know.
