    Need help for army building in campain

    Im am in a campain at my game store and the army size is 500pts the first month, 1000 points
    the second month, 1500 the third month, and 2000 the next. I am playing codex spacemarines
    and hope to get some advice.

    Here is my 500 pt army list

    Captain (HQ)
    *terminator armour
    with lightning claw and storm bolter

    Terminator squad with chain fist and assault cannon

    2 5-man tactical squads one with a multi-mela


    P.S. tested it out today and it worked ok but i only fought space marine bikes and nids :lol:

    If it was my army I'd turn the termies in for some more squads, in a 500pt game. If you have your heart set on them I'd try them for the 1000pt, but you simply need more men in a 500pt game. I don't remember exactly how much the average termie squad costs, but I'd say you could get a tac squad w/CC outfit in a rhino and give the tank-hunters some more men and a rhino, especially if you scrapped the captain for a chappie. I'm not quite sure if this is the positively the right thing to do, but it's what I'd do. Maybe even scrap the tank-hunters for some land speeders w/multi-meltas, which would work better, but I think we're getting out of our points range with that

    I'm sorry, quickly crunching the numbers in my head and something doesnt add up, can you tell us the total for this list?

    (from what i see, 245 for the termies and at leats 150 for the 10 tac-marines not counting the heavy weapon. plus another 60-90 on the captain and his wargear.)

    darkreever, he's only running 5-man Tac squads so they're cheap. I count 115 on the Captain, 225 on Termies, 75 and 85 on the Tac squads so he is bang on 500 points.

    McKinnon56, I wouldn't put Terminators in a 500pt game. Beef up those Tac squads and throw in some plasma guns and missile launchers. HQs excel in close combat so maybe give him a jump pack and combat shield instead and attach him to an Assault squad. They can then race forward into close combat while your two Tac squads lay down suppressing fire. Forget the Lightning Claw too, one of them is a waste of points. Either take the pair or use a Power Weapon instead and save the points.

    So Captain/Reclusiarch (107), 5 Assault marines (110), 8 Tactical marines (140), another 8 Tactical marines (140). Just shy at 497 points.

    EDIT: Following up on BolterSmoke's suggestion of a Chaplain, a Reclusiarch would run you same points as the Captain but with a 4+ invulnerable save against close combat and shooting. His other bonuses would also work wonders for your assault squad.

    in a 500 points game you need to have as many marines as possible.
    so don't take assault marines they are way too expensive in a 500 points battle. I would suggest 3x an 7 men squad with a chaplin/ reclusarium and give him a plasma pistol, artificer armour, terminator honour, bionics and let him join the squad that has CCW. the other 2 squad take missile launchers to back up the squad w/ CCW.

    this list will be just under 500 points if I'm right.

    Reclusiarch - bolt pistol, termie honours, frags - 102

    8 man squad, melta gun w/ vet sergeant + powerfist - 145

    5 man squad w/ missile launcher - 90

    Land Speeder Tornado HB + AC - 80

    Land Speeder Tornado HB + AC - 80

    Chaplain joins the 8 man squad. They walk up the board to meet in close combat. The powerfist and chaplain should be able to take care of whatever they meet. The missile launcher is fire support. The 2 LST are the backbone of this list. In small games LST's often break the oponent because of the high volume of fire and incredible movement. I would take something along these lines if I were you.

    Sorry to be a downer but I calculate these squads at 160 and 85 points respectively (I hope I'm wrong) so you'd come out 7 pts over budget. Otherwise this list is awesome.

    Perhaps you could drop the Terminator Honours on the Reclusiarch. Does he really need 6 attacks on the charge? Maybe throw some frags in for the 8 man squad?

    For that larger tac squad your correct, though I don't have the codex in front of me to back you up on the second one. (Though I believe a missle launcher would be 10pts... :cool: )

    yes the missile launcher is 10 points so that will make that squad 85 points.
