I'm working on a Veteran Superior and I wanted to give her a Combi-Weapon out of the armory, and I had some questions.
Are combi-weapons bought as combi-weapons or can you only get them by conversions?
Is one combi-weapon combination better than the rest? I was thinking Bolter-Melta. Any help or ideas would help.
Oh, she is the Veteran Superior of my Retributor Squad.
My preference goes with what I'm after.
If I am against a horde army I'd take a combi-flamer, just incase on that incoming rush I need the extra fire power...
Vs Gk or something expensive : combi melta. Pretty good chance to drop 1.
ok cool. But do I have to convert my own, or is there a sprue that has combi-weapons on it allready?
And any suggestion for pieces for a conversion?
Finding peices is a pain at times, depending on the size of your bits box.
Generally you can find them off other local players if you need to.
Combi-Flamers and Combi-Plasmas are simple to convert. Just take one bolter, and either a flamer or a plasma pistol. Cut the grip off the bolter, and then cut the other bit to fit. Combi-Meltas I have never attempted, but if there are plastic inferno pistols, they should work okay.
As for which combi- to take, if you are outfitting the model for CC take either the Flamer or the Melta. To decide which one, just use the same criteria you do for Flamer/Melta normally. If the model is going to be used as close up fire support, then I suggest the Combi-Plasma. Against most things, you have the same chance to one-shot one-kill as the melta, excepts that at short range you have an extra shot. And it is longer ranged. The drawback (apart from overheating) is that it always counts as rapid fire, so you can pop a high strength low AP shot off as you charge in (like the Combi-Melta can).
Greetings from Planet X, I hope you enjoy your day.
