I heard somewhere that in 2 or three months new plastic steel legion models are comming out. anyone know anything more about this?
"That is the sound of inevitability"
I think this has been a rumor for at least the last year, probably longer. More along the lines of wishful thinking if you ask me.
However, if someone had some new info, I think we would all love to hear the great news.

I know Forge world already has Tallaren plastic models, so I could see them making some more Steel Legion models. This is offical so dont quote me on this.
The guilty laugh while the innocent suffer.............WELL WHO'S LAUGHING NOW!!!
It'd be nice for GW to make a plastic boxed set that can represent multiple regiments. A "coated" Guard box could include some add-on pieces and different heads/helmets to make Death Korp of Krieg, Steel Legion, or Valhallan ice warriors. A more formal box could do Mordians, Praetorians, and maybe Terrax Guard (with only the addition of a cloak). Plus doing box sets like that would probably help sales, since fans of any one of the three regiments in a box would be buying it, rather than just the small sub-set of people who actually like having Guard regiments that look like Taliban resistance fighters.
I agree with Sokar. I think that boxed sets like that would be received pretty well.
What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

I think the problem is, that any new models that arent marines take a long time to make back the initial investment it costs GW to change over their casting machines, design new stuff, etc.
Its the same reason you will wont see plastic Sisters of Battle, its cheaper to keep making the metal minis, eventhough plastic is a less expensive material.
I believe Steel Legion was featured in the Armageddon Codex, which to to me says that if there were to be a Steel Legion or "long coat" sprue, it would have come out with the Armageddon Codex / Campaign.
Dont get me wrong, Im all for new Guard stuff, I just dont see it happening.

as for plastics and metals
while metal costs more the molds are cheap
while plastic has expensive molds and the cheap material
I think they wanted to see people convert their own army dudes like the catachan devils. But then again maybe not because that would be even more expensive than hell, but then again those bastards at GW are little bastards. they are ****s that get their kicks from being pricks. (not all GW people are bastards just alot of them [the ones in charge of the money stuff])
