i play a dark eldar army soon, any tips on what to take to beat them? (its a standard raider heavy army...lots of wyches (though not wych cult))
if so take alot of heavy bolters and standard bolters because they can rip through a squad. I would give the devastator squad heavy bolters and the normal squad missile launchers to take out the raiders and some witches. just avoid CC with those guys by at least 10" away from eachother because with the fleed of foot ability they can reach you. maybe that a predator destructor will work fine.
just make sure you have a lot of firepower in your army and he wouldn't see CC at all.

OK you got 2 real problems:
1. how to do as much damage as possible before they assault you
2. how to survive an assualt and hit back
1. as dead raider said, heavy Bs, assault cannons are also nice, heck frag missiles work too. Lots of Bolters
2. numbers- scouts are pretty good at this, cost less than your average marine and get 2 attacks, try and deploy them behind you marines, soyour marine unit takes the charge and your scouts can counter charge.

DE have a difficult time dealing with Land speeders.
The most dangerous thing to a landspeeder is being rapid fired on by many strength 4 weapons. As the standard weapon of DE is strength3, Land Speeders are immune to most of the weapons in the DE list. Dark lances can hurt them, but, with careful placement, and use of the various strategies mentioned in the speeder tactica, they can be a terrible bane to DE.
I myself field a Ravenwing speeder army. DE is the easiest army to beat with them. They easilly annihilate raiders witch takes away much of the maneuverability of the DE and a squadron of 3 can reduce a full squad of warriors (or wyches) to paste on the battlefield.
In small games, a lone LST with HB and AC can win the game for you. For every 500 points you are playing, I would add one of these. They are by far your best bet against DE.
Mentor of Space Marine Commanders far and wide.
Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
With the new 4th edition transport rules you really should a very easy time destroying raider armies.. Auto pinning = about 7 DE dead just from destroying their transport. Armor 10 really shouldnt be very hard to mow down
Land speeders, lascannons, heavy bolters and even bolters make short work of them.. Every glancing hit = 50% chance it's dead. Remember they dont block LOS to one another so just target the dangerous ones and they're hard to get behind cover
Really all you need is decent shooting, not even great as the DE raider rush is pretty horrible now
Atleast when you destroy a rhino all the troops inside don't die due to 6+ armor and reroll to wounds due to moving fast
The key is absolutely to get the raiders blown out from underneath them as absolutely quickly as possible, then laying down the bolter fire. DE do NOT like bolters, just as regular eldar dont, but unlike regular eldar, they dont have alot to respond with. As Chaosbrynn suggest AC/HB landspeeders can be your best friends in this type of stiuation, I would also like to recommend predator devastators. Similarly to the landspeeders, they're not going to be threatened by much of anything in the DE army list with the exception of Dark lances, but they can spit out ALOT of shots that the DE will not be able to save. If you can avoid it, stay out of assault range, use your bolters, HB's, and ML's to their biggest benefit. If you can whittle down their squads by blowing up their raiders and making them footslog it to your forces, you should be able to win the day just about 90% of the time.
As all have said before me, Bolters and H.Bolters will help take down all the warriors. You need some high strength weapons to take down Raiders, as if they reach you, you may be wiped out before you can say; ":o Enemy Raiders have reached my lines and by the time I finish this line I'll be wiped out!" :lol:
Take out Wyches before they reach you, as combat with them is worse than eating needles. :p
A Baal Predator, or even a Predator Destructor might be your ticket-they can both lay down a lot of metal, and have enough S to rip through DE and bring down the Raiders. Their AV13 is a bit of a liability with Dark Lances, but it's not that bad.

Paladins of Avalon (SW):-1500 points, needs paint.
an experienced DE player will always include a talos these T7 can be really painfull and should not be underestatemited. the best way to kill them is with a lascannon or krak grenade.
the most important thing you have to keep in mind that the archon must be shot down at all costs. if he fails his 2+ inv. save he is just bolter meat and killed very easily.

you will be dead if the archon hits your lines, so thats your number one priority, followed by wyches/incubi, unless any of these units have haywire bombs throw in a dread and all they will be able to do is cut his toe nails, or if you know that you will be taking on darkeldar take grey knights as your ally for the archon, because the psychannon will instakill the archon and it ignores her invulnerable save so shadow field will be useless, so whittle her revenue down with the storm bolters and then fry her with the psycannon, should work quite well.
