If you are a fairly new player, Ravenwing might prove a difficult army to play with. You should create a standard Dark Angels army and then, as you progress, you can branch out into Deathwing and Ravenwing. This will allow you to create armies using all 3 army options.SHRIKE has nothing to do with RavenWING.... he is ravenGUARD.Originally Posted by SHEPHERD

I would suggest just building it as a normal SM army, with the following tendancies:.
A high number of tactical squads.
Bikes or land speeders over Assault marines.
No veteran (Elites in a DA army are either Terminators or Dreadnoughts).
Heavy Support as for a normal Sm army, but a Vindicator would be fluffy once you get to 1,500 points or so.
Every HQ should have Terminator Honours, and if you are using the FAQ from the GW website, then sprinkle Stubborn throughout the list.
The preferred Special and Heavy weapons for Tactical squads should be Plasma guns and Plasma cannon (while not the best choice for a tactical squad, the Plasma Cannon is very fluffy for DA)
Greetings from Planet X, I hope you enjoy your day.

Ezekiel is hampered by a large points cost complete lack of a 2+ save or any invulnerable. At the time he was a novelty of a 3 wound Librarian but now compared to a new SM librarian he doesnt fare too well.
His special rule is ok, and fluffwise hes DA.
Efficiency wise a DA master with SoS is great whether in Terminator armour or not. Personaly I run with a MoSanctity Chaplain in Terminator Honours, cheap at only 133pts.
Tactical Squads with all plasma are cool: Plasma cannon, Plasma gun and Plasma pistol plus a powerfist. My Tactical squads end up coming to 230pts however. Its worth it when Khorne Beserkers or a TMC comes within 12" and evaporates.
DA get a reputation as a shooty army and Intractable, that lovely rule certainly helps out shooting more than c.c. Plus with stubborn Veteran Sergeants we dont run.
Ravenwing LST's get a 6+ invulnerable for the same points as a normal LST, thier a good buy.
Deathwing Terminators are great, especialy if you have a LRC, which you do. Terminators retain shooty properties while being a hard touch in combat, perfect as shooty army defensive units.
I use Ravenwing Attack Bikes with Multimelta's as my anti-tank mainstay along with a tankhunter TLLC Dreadnought and some lascannon tac squads.
I play with both a Vindicator and a Whirlwind, templates are great and the Vindicator can kill anything. I always gve mine Power of the Machine Spirit, its hillarious when you opponent shakes it, thinks thier ok and has a shell droppped on them anyway. From a LR to a squad of IG.
The whirlwind is a great sniper from behnd cover and cheap.
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!
It's all about what you like to use really, in public opinion Dark Angels are a shooty army, but this does not have to be true. About the only diffirence really is the godly Intractable rule, and in 3rd ed. the ability to take plasma cannons in tactical squads. My army does a little bit of everything, it can be fast using 2-3 Rhinos and Land Speeder and soon bikes, or it can be über shooty with tactical fire support squads (6 Marines, 1 Heavy weapon and 1 plasma gun) and the other shooty stuff.Originally Posted by Codered100
What i really love about Dark Angels is their courage, you can't chase them off by shooting, and if they happen not to be stubborn in close combat and fail their ld. test they still have the "And they shall know no fear" rule. You can also use a Commander to boost their ld. to 10.
I also like their models and the Ravenwing/Deathwing.
So, you should really get what appeals to you, you should complete the bike squad and get some more tactical marines and also heavy weapons and special weapons for them.
