Iam a DH player looking to induct IG I just figured out platoon ( that was a long one ) and then Iam wondering how to you make a commande squad?
each platoon consists of a command squad (taken from the HQ entry for 'junior officer') and between 2 and 5 squads of guardsmen.
when buying a command squad, just flip to the HQ section and purchase a junior officer, the rest of the options about how to fill out the squad are listed there for you. to select your squads, flip to the troops section and select your squads from their corresponding troop section entry; that will provide the details about the squads that fill the platoon. when you're done, it all counts as one troops choice on your force organization chart.
hope that helped
Most Excellent Knoll I found it...just one problem...the smallest unit is 20 for 35$ hmm is there another way? Perhaps involving their HQ?
Nope, that how platoons have to be formed up. I know it ends up bloody expensive so if you can search ebay for some cheaper mint condition deals. Even if you only save a couple of pounds, it adds up after a while.Originally Posted by Gimmers

If you aren't going to use a banner or a medic then there is no need to buy a command squad. You can make the JO out of left over bits, feel free to combine guardsman bits and DH bits to makes something that while modeled to be a JO it can have a DH flair to it. Just use a IG sarge body and weapons and add the head of a henchman or something. You could just make a sarge body and weapons and paint him with extra colors making him seem more ornate with out using any different bits. The key is that you and your opponent know that he is different from a normal sarge.
an officer blister pack is pretty inexpensive and you get a pair of officers..that's the way I go.
yeah though, IG can be expensive, but just buy one box and paint it, by the time you're done painting, you'll have plenty for the next box
remember heavy and special weapons in your squads, they go a long long way towards making your infantry a viable unit.
