After charging into the first enemey unit with the Rough Riders it says in the codex that they drop their hunting lances, what weapon do they have then? Lasguns?
...And they shall fear the lasgun
It depends. They come standard with a Laspistol and Close Combat Weapon, you replace one of those with the Hunting Lance, you use the other when the lance is gone. Everybody replaces the CCW, because replacing the pistol is useless.
See page 46 of the codex.

Mech Tau Cadre: 2000 points, needs paint and magnets.
Paladins of Avalon (SW):-1500 points, needs paint.
They are one-time use lances that get replaced with lasguns after use. So yes, you are right in your guess.
"Through most of the war we fought as nobles might. Never betraying, never decietful. But there came a point where tripping the soldier next to you might mean another day of life..."
Now, the codex says that the guardsmen may REPLACE their CCW or laspistol with a hunting lance. That doesn't sound to me as if they get it back once the lance has been used.
My understanding from seeing people play at a Games Workshop is this. You replace a weapon with the Lance. Once the lance is used the rough rider begins to use that weapon. This occurs at the end of the turn. Think of it this way, the RR is shething his sword or holstering his pistol so that he can use his lance. He still has the weapon he just can't grow a third arm.
Well they could grow a third arm but an inquisitor would kill them.
They have both a Laspistol and a CCW. They replace the CCW or the pistol. Nobody yet has said they get anything back. They just use whatever they didn't replace, and since a pistol counts as a CCW when in CC, it would be a waste to replace the pistol because it can shoot too.Originally Posted by Kaiser

Arnt they allowed 1 one handed weopon and 1 two handed weopon or is that just officers or whatever?
to my knowlege, after they use their lance, they only have a pistol (no ccw).
