How should I start making an armourd company?
and what tips and such can you give?
I have good experience with space marine tanks and some experience with I.G., so I know the basic rules for tanks and the ballistic skill for the tanks, but don't know what models to start with.
any help apperciated.
I don't play AC, but you will need some Lemen Russes. You will probably need a lot of Russes (and their varients).
yeah, I thought of that, but I'm not sure how to equip them for gaming.
like armoury stuff and the doctrines.
I am an avid AC player. Keep in mind that AC is a major psychological army and difficult to play as. Expect to lose a few games while learning. Bright/Dark lances and other S9 R36" or 48" weapons become a real problem at first. Learn to use cover with tanks and to take advantage of lines of fire. Of course ther is always the rail guns and other long range high S weapons to worry about, but that is always a problem. Oh, camo netting is your friend.
I recommend a LR Vanquisher, Demo or another Vanquisher, 1 Basalisk, 4 LR MBT and an appropriate 2xchimera/stormtrooper squads. Use the Vanqs as an HQ and Tank ace add 2 LR BT to each to creat the appropriate formations, Basalisk for support. Use the Chimera/Storm troopers to fill the gaps. If you use the Demo use it carfully, because of the limited range. Toss in a hellhound Vs. horde armies or add another Basalisk or a Forge world griffon, medusa or Bombar Vs. Tau. Use E-bay or something like that or you will be poor, they always sell fixer-upper tanks. Do not use: any auto cannon armed tank (at first), conquerers (at first) or the Manticor (ever). I would go easy on sentinals unless you're confident in your ability to use them. Always remember to fill in the gaps Vs. assault heavy armies or you will find melta-bombs being shoved up your tail pipe after turn 2. Infantry support tanks, tanks support infantry, artillary is an umbrealla of support (the theory of combined arms). If you want to use auto cannons, use a Hydra, it has two twin-linked, long-barreled auto cannons.

The problem with ES's in an AC is that they'd be worth it...if they didn't need their own Chimera. With the proliferation of tanks, you'll probably be able to fix one of them. However, having to fork over 80+ extra points for a Chimera kinda kills it.
Burn the land and boil the sea. You can't take the sky from me.
Member of the Canadian Clan, eh.
Mech Tau Cadre: 2000 points, needs paint and magnets.
Paladins of Avalon (SW):-1500 points, needs paint.
technically more, ES by himself is 45+80 is about 125 points.more if there are two, then there's the servitors.
but their use, to repair the tanks, thats the thing, more points to repair, or use the points for T.A. or storm troopers.
Start with some Leman russes, bu first your going to need to settle down on what doctrines you want and command tank. Personally I started with a vanquisher as my command tank, and since it's supposed to be a skitarri cataphractii regement revolving soley around the russ, the vanquisher, and the demolisher I choose forge-crafted, crush and grind, and such to make a force that was both fairly durable and able to move forward and crush infantry under their treads. Honestly I like the engine seers and they can be useful in many instances and they become mobile repair units, but the only problem I have seen with them is that they barely get chances to repair my tanks as my opponents usually shoot them till their dead (since I can still hurt them with a crew shaken result). Overall just make a small list, you can find the PDF on the UK GW site and figure out what kind of army you want to make, and welcome to the AC the hammer of the imperial guard.
thats why I decided I was really going to do an A.C.
I was curious, went to the U.K. site and found the list, printed it and here I am.
but I was thinking,is improved sponsons worth it?
as I was thinking, since I'm probably going to go on a list with the majority of tanks being leman russes, that I should get it,as I would have extras left over from demolishers.
I would lay off of the ES in games less than 2500 pts, really isn't to useful except maybe to back up storm troopers with servitor heavy bolters. The idea thet you can repair a downed tank and not get your own butt shot off is not enough for the points. You will only ever need one demolisher, maybe 2 in cityfight or vs nids, but its too many points to just use in a flexible army. Take a Medusa or another basalisk if you think you need more indirect firepower or a laser destroyer tank hunter to pop armour at range.
