I am interested in adding allies to my daemonhunter force and want opinions in which army would be best. My instinct at the moment is to add some Blood Angels. I can teleport Grey knights to flank enemy units and force the battle into close combat . That's the idea anyways.
Eventually I want about a thousand point ally list.
But I don't know if there isn't something better.
You cannot take blood angels or any other space marines as an ally to a Daemonhunters force that includes grey knights. You CAN, however, take a blood angels army and take daemonhunters as allies. If you have a daemonhunters force with grey knights, then the only allies you can take are IG and WH. Personally, i like the IG more.Originally Posted by poeticwarrior
I thought that rule with allies was that you can take any imperial force but then you can't use any inducted troops. The no space marines and grey knights rule only applies to inducted marines.... I think. If someone else didn't have my codex right now it would be alot easier to find the answer. Well l can find out eventually, thanx.

If your BASE army is DH, you can use Inducted IG or SM, and if you want, WH allies. If you have GK in the DH force here, no inducted SM allowed. When you use Inducted troops, you're limited to the exact things listed in the DH codex. And on top of that, you CANNOT use Doctrines, Traits, unique Chapters, or anything like that - only vanilla types. So while you'd be allowed SM, you would NOT be allows Blood Angels. You can still use BA models, but NO BA special rules - they count, in EVERY way, as plain old vanilla trait-less Marines.
If your BASE army is IG or SM, you can ally Daemonhunters into it. A base SM army IS allowed to have GK among the allied Daemonhunters. In this situation, the SM (or IG) army MAY use traits, doctrines, and/or unique Chapters as normal. But you're extremely limited on what Daemonhunters you can include here.
Using allied daemonhunters doesn't really limit what you can get, just how much. Grey Knights (both normal and fast attack), termies, grandmaster (or inquisitor lord and assassin), all available. Sure, you cant get daemonhosts, or any of the GK heavy support, but then again, when you have SM or IG heavy support available, why would you want the GK ones?
Thanks for the info everyone. I will keep it all in mind.
Now I understand why alot of the daemonhunter players are waiting for the Alienhunter codex.
