    Commander help

Hey, im just making my force commander and i need to find a really ornate sword, ive looked in my GW store and havent really found the type im looking for, the reason is my caption is the leader of the burning blades so i kinda of need a blade for him to wield. I would prefer plastic as i have no idea how to rip a metal arm off a model

    any help would be appreciated

NOTE: its for his left arm

Either get a jeweler's saw or use the same snips you use for cutting pieces off sprues, then file it down (or green stuff it once you glue it in place to fill the cracks, since snips tend to leave an angular cut)

Or try the online store, they have a lot of seperate arms with swords on them, just look at the WHFB range, you should be able to find something in there.

Try the emperor champion sword. It's metal, but shouldn't be so hard to cut it off.

Well, if it's thin and your a lazy person, you can just use your hobbey knife (although this can ruin it, it doesnt matter for me... My hobbey knife has replacable razor blade). Or, if its too thick to cut like that, you can borrow your dads powerrtools...

No, really, use a jewlers saw. > http://www.widgetsupply.com/page/WS/CTGY/jeweler-saw

Few things that may look neat are the Eldar Avatars sword; big piece and looks nice when painted up. Another may be the Tyranid Hive tyrants bone sword, its a big piece. Check out Warhammer fantasy battles, they got some neat toys there too.

Okay, i have another idea, which starts with a question

can you have a special army exclusive model in your army but just say the model is just a regular model with that wargear? what im doing is im going to get an emporers champion and just stick a plasma pistol on his other arm and make him my chapter commander. is this allowed? i wotn give him any of the emps champions special abilities at all

As long as you make it clear to your opponent that he is a commander and that you are playing <insert chapter here> not Black Templars (not that there could really be much grounds for confusion unless you decide to paint your army black, but its better to just make sure that your opponent knows) there is nothing wrong with it, as long as all his wargear is modeled onto the model.

I actually think that would look pretty cool as a commander, seeing the whole trend these days is for marines to be more knightly.
