I'm new to 40K and new to the witch hunters, but planning to start a WH army because they're so fun to paint. I've been reading a bit in this forum about army lists and such, and I've noticed noone ever uses Inquisitor Lords, everyone picks the Canoness. But I personally like the look of the Inquisitors much better. I'd like to start out with one of them, and 2 squads of SoB's. What wargear and what retinue should I give him to be effective, in a small army? Or should I really just drop him and opt for a canoness (I'd hate that though) ?
I pick cannoness over inquisitor lord just because i dont want to take the henchmen. HQ is my least important choice and i need the points for others. so in small games, you might be better off with the cannoness. sorry.
Just try a minumum of henchmen, say veteran guardsmen with plasma guns and/ or acolytes with bolters.Originally Posted by pencilgod

the reason the canoness is used over the lord is she is more effective (especially in small games) for the points. she gets faith which is one of the strongest reasons for her, a blessed weapon is absoloutley a gift from the emperor. that is not to say the lords are useless i personally find them too expensive for their points they either kill alot or die easy. having to take at least 3 henchmen makes it hard aswell especially in small point games but if you want to use it go ahead. i also find it unfluffy for an inquistor to be leading my sob if i use a sisters i use a canoness if i use storm troopers i use inquistor lord but that is just me :p
