Hey i came up with a conversion that was with Darkelves and IG im thinking about taking the Darkelves from warhammer using their bodies and some face (ones with helms because they look human). The regiment i choose used 2 swords one in each hand. so i was thinking about replacing those other hands with my IG arms and adding a lsgun to each one
You could go with the special equipement: Warrior weapons doctrine to give *ALL* your guardsmen that normaly uses lasguns a close combat weapon and a laspistol. However if you do this, it affects *ALL* your squads. Not a single guardsman will get to keep his lasgun, not a single one.
I suppose you could give them doulble swords for the looks, but it's not a very bright idea gamewise. A pistol and sword both count as close combat weapons and two close combat weapons gives you ONE additional attack in close combat. You should go with the pistol/close combat weapon idea, because it leaves you with some shooting capabilites.
Oh and for the record. Special Equipment: Warrior weapons are probably the worst doctrine to give to your guardsmen IMO. It's just... crap.
Yes, it is. 2 points, per model, for CC abilities in a Shootey armey. That brings the cost of a normal guardsmen to 8 points, and if you intend to assault someone then you cant use any heavy weapons, which are the Guards main asset. You could, of course, get away with doing this is command squads, and then you wouldn't have to pay loads of points.
Special Equipment doctrines HAVE to be applied to ALL guard infantry. so you can't just give it to the command squads, it's all or none with those.Originally Posted by SlickWilley
...ah, now I see what you mean. I just remembered that the commandsquad retinue can switch to laspistol/ccw for free. Silly me.
Darkelves and IG is a real good conversion thats what i do. I use a crossbow for a master crafted bolter for my commissar and its one of my favorite conversions.

I wouldn't use WarriorWeapons unless you didn't care at all about having a competitive IG army... cause it is a really really poor doctrine.
It should be 10pts per squad and you can *choose* to give each gaurdsmen a lasgun, laspistol/ccw, or shotgun.
Have you considered giving them lasguns but making them like DarkEvles? Like a feudal world that has been given some las technology?
how about carapace armor since they'd have armor on?
Good idea! ya so i would use dark elves change their arms and heads and give them lasguns. I love it!Originally Posted by BoxANT
