I've been thinking about collecting a small sm army (purely for the fun of it, I'm a Tyranid player at heart) and want to use the doom eagles as my chapter. My only problem is, the only thing I know about them is that they are an ultramarines sucessor chapter. Any info on the doom eagles would be most appriciated, stuff like habits, choice of weaponry, armor, and the like. Thanks for the Help everyone!
Hmmmm, gotta fix my sig...
EVIL ELF RULES ALL!
My friend collects Doom Eagles, and has around 3000pts I think. He generally goes for a plain SM force; Several Tactical Squads, a Commander, 2 Devastator Squads, Dreadnought, Predator, Terminators. I have some pictures of them somewhere, if you're interested in painting ideas. PM me if you're interested.
They don't use much in the way of Vehicle's at all. THey also hold their Apothecaries up higher than your standard SM chapter (THis comes from Monastery Of The Dead) in Deathwing the book.
THey are an assault based army, though not specialising in it as such. what does this equate to Rules/Mini's wise?
At least one Assault squad W/ jump packs, though if you mean them to be and portray doom Eagles, I would take more Jumop packs,a s the flying has a root int heir choice of new recruits (On Mournful WIngs , the Deathwing Book again). THey are a somber chappter, vibrant colors otehr than the red I'd say no too. Otherwise their just a codex chapter.
I forgot to mention my friend always takes two Jump Pack squads.
The Doom Eagles believe that they are, in fact, dead. During their initiation, their demise is faked by the trainers, causing the new recruit to believe that he has already passed away and is now merely living a meaningless unlife that has no real value. They are also very glum and quite depressed virtually all the time. At some point they obviously realise they are not organically dead, but still believe they are "spiritually" deceased - their soul has passed on, and their body has the soul purpose of serving the Emperor.
This makes them excellent suicide assault troopers, since they all believe they're dead anyway and are quite prepared to go through it again.
Edit: Colour scheme is silver-grey with red highlights. They take lots and lots of assault squads.

Thanks for the help. They kinda seem like morbid folk, huh? Maybe I should look into some other chapters as well, heck, maybe even make up my own, but hey, I'll see.
Thanks again people.
EVIL ELF RULES ALL!
u could jus use traits judging by what you've heard or u could use the rules for dead/damned chapters in index asartes.
Fierce: No mercy no respite. Blessed by the warriors.
Drawback: Flesh over steal.
kinda like raven guard...
"Heresy is like a garden weed, it won't stop feeding until you... BURN THE WHOLE DAMN GARDEN WITH A FLAMER, BURN IT, BURN IT TO HELL!!!!!" "Is there a wittle puppy in the garden? ITS A DAEMON! BURN IT!"
I had originally assumed they were a Raven Guard successor, not the Ultramarines, as they bear greater relation to Corax than Gulliman. Their whole ideology lends itself to the grim, existential outlook so common to 40k. I really do wish GW focussed more on the Doom Eagles; they are a very unique chapter, compared to the dozens of Blood Angel/Space Wolves hybrids that have leapt up following the introduction of Chapter Traits.
Man, I'm liking the sound of these guys. Sorry, this isn't constructive at all, but this fluff is sounding pretty tempting . The Doom Eagles have been around (as a GW chapter) for quite a while and I agree with ze_poodle in that GW should flesh them out, along with some of the other less known but very interesting chapters.
I think I read a bit of fluff about them in which they were in involved in the whole Plague of Unbelief incident, and were combating Nurgle and the waves of zombies that had sprouted up. Their Apothecaries became legendary for the fact that not one Doom Eagle succumbed to Nurgle's Rot. They were also present at the Badab Uprising on the loyalist side.
It sounds to me like the traits for them are Blessed be the Warriors/No Mercy, No Respite and Purity Above All, with drawbacks Flesh Over Steel and Death Before Dishonour.
