I play Blood Angels and I'm soon to get a dread and I'm not sure which weapon to put on it. I'm for sure having one close combat arm but i cant decide on the other weapon choice. I play Choas(Iron Warriors) and Dark eldar the most and I need to know what will best suit my army's needs against these opponents. Thanks ^_^

The question is pretty simple really. BA have 2 dreadnought configuratoins, or rather 2 dreadnoughts.
1) Furioso dreadnought. No optins so obviously you arent asking about this one.
2) Fire Support Dreadnought. Normal dread from the heavy support section for BA. This is best equipped with a TLLC and a missile launcher. The reason is 2 fold. 1, if you want close combat, you should be using a furioso dread. 2, BA have a lack of long range firepower and due to teh balck rage, heavy weapons are unreliable in tactical squads. As such, most BA commanders tend to use these dreads as wepaon platforms as they can fire both weapons wether they have raged or moved.
So I would advise you to go with the TLLC and Missile Launcher as it will benefit your army the most.

Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
Its for a normal dread, not for a furioso. Sorry....should have made that clear in the first post.

Venerble (not sure BAs can have that but if you can....) with Std. weapon. Enless your playing the necros. Then toss on the missles and lasscannons. All the shots from the ACs are just mean.
I think what Chaosbrynn was saying is that if you want a close combat dreadnought, go furioso, and if you want good fire support, then go hellfire pattern.
If you want to do a little of both, that's understandable, and I would say it depends on your army list. The twin linked lascannon is always useful against both of the opponents you mentioned, but the assualt cannon is cheaper and is a powerful anti infantry gun with a little anti tank mixed in. However, the Dark Eldar can take out a Dreadnought pretty fast if it isn't in cover or far away (37 inches +).
If you go with the close combat arm and gun, I suggest drop podding it in against Dark Eldar if you want close combat, and maybe against Iron Warriors too. Those Basilisks and Vindicators can cause trouble, not to mention Defilers.

Ya, I wanted a dread with a CC arm just because I love charging my opponent and against Choas its demonstrated to be very effective. However I also wanted a heavy weapon on it since my army at the moment only has a HB and a lascannon on the way. Since the Choas guy I face all the time has a defiler I thought I might as well put on a Lascannon to take care of it and even help out against his obliterator.

I think u have enough assault strength in you fast attack squad and the death company your soon going to get. So i would sugest the plasma cannon and the missile launcher. This is the best combo. Missile launcher can take care of both vehicle and infantry and the plasma can support it. Its also a good idea to advantige of the fact that u can move and fire both of the weapons, giving you strength in what you lack. So far, your troops can help the dread against close combat so i dont thing there will be a a point in charging obliterators with the dread, it would be much better to shot them with the plasma gun. And the rest of your plasmas on the fast attack squad.

or what you could do that will save you a bunch of trouble and anguish is not glue on the arms. I did this on my dread and i frequently switch the arms around to suit my enemy and/or my mood. so if you find your LC is doing horrible, you can switch the arm to a PC or AC. same thing with the CC weapon to ML. Doing that will save you from having to go buy another one if you find that that one doesnt work for you.

If you want fire support I'd go for assualt cannon and missile launcher dread. He can mow down troops and still deal out wounds to the big nasties. Plus if he gets into CC he can still hold up troops.
... only triumph could turn pooing his pants into a good thing..
I still think the most effective kill ratio combination is AC/ML but i never see it used and I don't know why
Lascannon is alright, but AC is just so much more versatile which I like. The major problem with that configuration is that your dreadnought has to get close enough to get owned by plasma and other shorter range weapons. It's just so cost effective compared to the expensive lascannon. For the same price as Las/ML you can get AC/ML with venerable which is alright
And yes BA dreads can be venerable as it uses the Codex: Sm entry
