Yeah me and a friend are having an argument ( he has Space Marines ) while I have DH...
He says that the Grey KNights Land Raider Crusader is 26? something points I say it is a Grey Knights LRC, so then he says i wont be using updated assaultcannon rules then..then i disagree there.
So who is correct?
P.S. The second argument..a train is traveling 67mph traveling south on....just playing
I see where he's coming from as it seems like you are trying to get the best of both worlds, but I think you are right. The new sm codex didn't change the point cost of the gk lrc. The new sm codex changed the rules of the autocannon. The gk lrc has an autocannon. That's how I see it anyway, but I'm not sure. Hmm I'm curious now too
GK landraider stays the same in points
but the new assaultcannon rules will take effect for the GK landraider
so your assaultcannon has rending
There is a "mostly official" thread on the GW 40k forums that says that DH use the SM codex for certain common Imperial items, such as tp homers, LRs and LRCS, etc. You use the SM codex. Thus, the LRC costs a little bit more but gains the Power of the Machine Spirit rules, AC gets rending, etc.
Bottom line, technically you should use the SM codex for LR or LRC stats. Just replace "Crew: Space Marine" with "Crew: Grey Knights" and it retains the same upgrade options from the DH Armory.

It is fully official, and has been referred to in the designers comments in GW that all of the rules for weapons and equipment which changed on the release of the SM codex/4th ed use the SM codex/4th ed variant (eg assault cannon, teleport homer) in favour of the previous release's rules. for the same points cost.
So the Daemon Hunters LR uses the points cost and vehicle upgrade options detailed int eh Daemon Hunters codex, but the weapon (and vehicle) rules from the rulebook and SM codex.
You're friend is right. If you want to use the old Land Raider Crusader (as much as I would love to) you should also use the old assault cannon rules. As far as I'm concerned, it's cheating if you look at the new codex and go, "Ohhh assault cannon heavy 4 rending, I like that! But what's this? LRC costs more and loses the ability to always fire hurricane bolters? Screw that I'm using our version."
On the other hand, if he uses LRC let him use the daemonhunter version as well. Then it's ok.
and as for your second arguement the answer is 42!
Nope, it has been made clear that the weapon rules have been updated, but that the unit rules are as stated. So the LRC is the cost in the DH codex, but uses the Heavy 4 Rending profile for the AC.
Ok I called GW 3 times today..
1) 1st guy said:
Grey Knights Landraider..255 pts no updated assault rules..until official FAQ come out.
Grey Knights Lanraider,,,255pts w/ updated assaultcannons
3)....2nd guy answered again..I hung up.
There you have it....thats the official word...still doesn't solve crap.
I call later today to see if differnet guys are workin there, after i get back from work.
So if I do look in new codex will I have power of the machine spirit?
I encourage you Americans to click here:http://us.games-workshop.com/home/help/contactus.htm

GW always uses the rule that the most recent codex overrides all older publications. When the DH codex came out it made the Assassins codex obsolete. Since the DH codex is an addendum to the SM codex the newest codex rules would take priority. You can't decide which rules to follow and which to not follow. If you're playing in a tournament they'll tell you which rules are in effect. If you're playing by house rules I would suggest using either one or the other and deciding beforehand.
There are numerous other changes besides the costs of some units that have changed with the new SM codex. There are problems with some older rules in the DH codex that no longer apply or are incorrect in 4th edition. If you are using 4th edition rules I would recommend using the new SM codex as it has 4th edition corrections the DH codex does not.
I do not criticize. I do not offend. All I offer is my opinion which means only as much as you make it.
You rang the rulezboyz?
Sorry gimmers, but they are crap. They are just as valid as a random guy in the store/club. No more, no less.
Any way you cut it though, you can't take machine spirit, as it isn't a valid vehicle upgrade choice.
