Yeah I tried to aim how to paint them like the eavy metal team, brilliant shining paladins,
but mine...dark metallic..I ask my brother how they paint them like that he "10 years experience"...I noticed part are white..I try to make white parts but the parts look wrong.
So does anyone paint them the eavy metal way?...Any tips?
I just do mine boltgun, black ink, and then mithral drybrushed heavily on top.
I used Mytril on my first batch and now i BOUGHT chainmail and using it...
Black primer, a couple of Mithril Silver coats, and then an extremely watered down Black Ink. That's all for mine. They're nice and shiny, just like on the box.
Black, dry brush boltgun (so it's not heavy), then dry brush mythril. Looks a little darker and mean. When I painted boltgun on my first ones they came out way too perfect and shiney.
It's the NFW blades of the regular GK I'm still figuring out. I don't them to compete with the armourr
oh and chill with the Mythrill dry brush. Otherwise you'll just end up with bright mirrors
Thats why they are dark becuase their reflective sufaces..reflect my wooden desk...
mithralMytrilmythrilMithril, people, it's mithril. ^_^Mythrill
Sorry "master of the paints".....
I basecoat mine black, then paint them boltgun metal, then I put the mini under a bright lamp. Wherever it shines (natural edges) i paint mithril silver. I gives the mini very natural reflexions. Then I wash it with extremely diluted enchanted blue (same which I use undiluted for the eyes). I then paint all "embossed" areas, signs, purity seals and shoulder "nametag" scorched brown. Then all of those are worked in shining gold (embossed writing), bleach bone (purity seals, name tag and book) and a fat drop of red gore on the seals' wax part.
The blades are boltgun metal with the edge in mithril silver, the stormbolter's bullet belt is dwarf bronze. A tiny (TINY!) curved line of skull white at the back of the blue eyes, some black ink scribbling on the purity seals and "nametag" (I don't like writing a name, I find it looks weird).
It'll give you a very standard (ie booklike) mini of what I referr to as "very good gaming standards". They won't give you a golden daemon (what DH would wan't a daemon anyways!) but your friend should let an appreciative "oooooooo" when they look at them!
ps, don't forget to base the mini!!!! Mucho importante!!! My WH table is painted "ashes wasteland" So I paint the bases codex grey, they paint white glue on them, shake in standard GW sand and pebble basing mix, wash with scorched brown and drybrush codex grey!
