I've never even thought about taking them.
What do you guys think the strengths and weaknessess are?
How do you use them, what do you give them?
They are the cheapest faithful unit in the army, as they don't need a VSS to be faithful and have a small min squad size. There are the best basic CC unit in the army as well. They make up for a lack of strength by hitting more often.
Artificial Intelligence is no match for Natural Stupidity.
Chiefly I employ them as a bodyguard for my Canoness and outfit them for CC (the VSS has an eviserator). The squads carries a Heavy Flamer and a melta, also an imagnifer. If its a 2000+ point game I like to give them the Banner of the Order Militant.
"The sword that takes life gives life."
They also have a really nice transport (immolator). And yo9u can give them cheaper heavy weapos 8except for the flamer). And they do work nice even from the 5 min start size. I deploy 2 5 woman strong squads + HB and Storm Bolter at 1500 points as I had 141 points to spare and after I worked these two in my list I even had point(s) to spare.
'Thou shalt not refer to the Adeptus Soritas as "Bolter Bitches" nor shalt thou go anywhere near our sisters during the time of the "Red Rage," lest thou wishes to be the first human to enter orbit without the aid of a shuttle.'
add a priest and a canonness, that is one kickass CC squad
I have looked at them and been thinking about possible uses for them. My first thought has been to sue them as a CC "buffer" for my army, in combination with other Sisters squads with kitted Superiors or Sisters Repentia.
I was thinking os using Celestians for a strong centre just standing and firing at whatever comes, then charging them when they get closer. Seeing as they'll be standing and shooting to use their Bolters at 24" range, I thought a Multi-Melta could be a useful idea, and perhaps a Storm Bolter to compensate. With this I can deal with unsuspecting tanks, or "big things" coming at me. Also a good excuse to field the model, which I like very much. The idea would be to just stand and fire at 24" and wait for the enemy to come to me, and then I could either Rapid Fire or counter charge. Of course I'd have a kitted Superior and an Adepta Sororitas Heroine with them, so a counter-charge is an effecitve option, making use of Holy Hatred. I'm not too inclined tp sue a Preist cause I want a "pure Sisters" army and because he'd stop me form shooting my Bolters at 24". A 6 strong squad in an Immolator doesn't seem to good to me either simply cause I'm looking for a Close Combat unit, which needs to be reasonably large.
You cannot win, for to fight us is to give us power.
someone correct me if i'm wrong...a squad with a priest has to charge...so if my celestians rapidfire, and are within 6'', can i RF and then charge? then who cares about shooting 24"
You can't RF and Charge, 4th Edition rules, course, that means if there a Priest you cxan't shoot cause you HAVE to assault, they work better with Repentias.
Personally, The SoBs don't have enough of a CC power to make me want to take them, and IMO, its a bit of a let down, sure if the cheapest Faithful unit, but not after you thrown in the VSS with an Eviserator. plus it pulls from your Battle Sister Base, and sure they can get an Immy, but IMO a better way to get ahold of an Immy is to take a HS one,m that way you can transport anything, from your HQ to bringing a unit that was falling back up to the front lines.
Now, if they could take a CCW/BP or maybe a power weapon or 2 like SM Vet. Squads and the like, then I migth take them to kinda act as a semi-shield for my Repentia for as long as possible, with get coming up after wards to help clean up, or maybe giving them an Immy/Rhino, to help them stay ahead and block as much LoS to Repentias as possible (Not so for me, as I'll have 17).
Course, in my LIST ( Sisters of Battle V2.0) I already have lots of High cost units, so yeah.
I'd also never take them as a Bodyguard, it limits your HQ too much, you can't have a Jump Pack, and if you take a transport to help compensate, shthey could end up pinned for a turn, and besides, The Canoness is deadly alone, I took out a Whole Scorpion squad with my one Canoness.
Wow, this is the longest post I've made in awhile, all for the better.
And pls Check out my LIST ( Sisters of Battle V2.0), it's so lonely with no replys.
If I ffended anyone or anyone's views, I'm sorry, but it's all IMHO.
